Sushi Hiro - Great Lunch Deal

$$
★★★☆☆

I would say Sushi Hiro is a pretty famous sushi place in HK, but it's only until today I went for lunch. It is located at Henry house, so the restaurant is rather small. Beg for window seats, so you can enjoy a nice view of causeway bay with natural sun light.

The Socialhouse - Food with Interesting twist

Price: $$
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆1/2

One might think The Socialhouse is a lively bar restaurant for friends to mingle, in fact The Socialhouse has this romantic setting which actually suits couples dining more. Anyway I went with my dad tonight, so I had a nice candle light dinner with him. Ha! The restaurant is always empty, but I wanted to try it for long so that couldn't change my mind.

[Paris] Ladurée Macaron - Pretty Spring Edition Gift Box

$
★★★★☆

Before I left Laudée Bonoparte Tearoom, I got some macarons at the cake shop. Ladurée has always partnered with designers for their gift boxes. This beautiful tiffany blue Les Merveilleuses box is a special Spring Edition that offers in Paris Shop since End of Feb 2013. You can also find this box in Hong Kong's Ladurée at Harbour City.

[Paris] Poilâne - My First taste of Poilane

$
★★★★☆

Poilâne is said to be one of the bakery that should not be missed among the blogs that I have read. Poilâne is obviously famous for its pain poilâne, they also offers other pastries too but in a small range so to ensure the good quality. They do not offer baguette though which France is famous for. Many restaurants buy breads from them and some will even acknowledge Poilane on their menu.

[Paris] Pierre Hermé - Croissant!

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆1/2

On my way to Poilane, I passed by rue Madame and thought, "Screwed it, let's check out Pierre Hermé as well." I was a bit worried if Pierre Hermé was opened because it is a bit early. When I arrived at the entrance. There were several people queuing at the door and just started to step into the shop. Perfect timing I thought.

[Paris] Ladurée - Tea like a Parisian

$$
★★★★☆

Who would visit Paris without going to Ladurée? Even Hong Kong has an oversea branch of Ladurée now, there is no tearoom like in Paris. There are several tearooms in Paris and Ladurée tearoom at 16 rue Royal is Ladurée's first Parisian tearoom in Paris.

[Paris] Café de Flore - The Touristy Cafe

Price: $$
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆1/2

As said to be one of the most touristy spot, Café de Flore is one that I could not missed in Paris. It was praised by visitors for its ambient atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food. The weather was actually very nice the day I landed, but still it's 5ºC so I picked an indoor seating, if not I will definitely sit outside.

Le Canelé d'Or - My First Taste of Canelé

$$
★★★★★

I have known about Le Canelé d'Or's existence for a while, but not until I started planning for my Paris trip, I actually ordered some canelé from her. I have never tasted canelé myself, so I was kind of excited to try it.

Le Canelé d'Or is the first shop specialised in hand making fresh French pastry canelé in Hong Kong. It an online shop that offers a fast and free delivery service everyday. You can place your order by 8pm tonight and get your free delivery tomorrow by evening or even in the afternoon depending on the delivery location.

Azure Restaurant and Slash Bar - A Touch of Spring

Price: $$$$
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆
(Media Tasting)

Located in the heart of Central, was the renowned bar Azure at the top of LKF hotel. Many might know about the awesome bar but yet to know about Azure as a restuarant offering decent dishes.

The second floor had a completely different look from late night, which white tables with candle lights were set up, creating an intimate and classy dining scene. The dining floor will get back to the lively dance floor at around 11ish. I guess Azure can pretty much ensure a great night out for anyone.

AVA Restaurant and Slash Bar - A Lovely Refreshing Spring Dinner

Price: $$$
Cravingness: ★★★★★
(Restaurant Tasting)

Dining at AVA is an exquisite experience - from the moment you walk through the carpeted pathway at the front door towards the elevator, overlooking the extraoridinary Victoria Harbour through the elevator window, dining at a sleek designed room with exquisite cuisine, you will be impressed.

The restaurant has a contemporary and extravagance design with electronic music playing at the background. The ambience is romantic with dim yellow lighting and candle lights on the table, which is best for an intimate dining for two. Just imagine seating by the window with your beloved, sipping a glass of champagne while overlooking the magnificent view of the Victoria Harbour? That sounds heaven on earth right?

Hakata Ippudo - New! Tokyo Seafood Tonkotsu

★★★★☆
$

I ordered the seasonal special, Tokyo Seafood Tonkotsu (東京魚介豬骨拉麵) which is priced at HKD$ 88. It is a tonkotsu based broth but added skipjack and scad fish into the broth to make an extremely savoury fish broth. The fish broth was amazing, with strong fish aroma and taste. The big and thick slice of BBQ pork was flavourable with a strong char taste! The yellow ramen was silky to slurp and chewy to taste! The soft boiled egg was also nicely done with a creamy yolk and bouncy white. It was slightly salted to give some taste.

J-Dog - Japanese Style Hot Dog

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆1/2

Somehow I think people dinning in Tai Hang usually has a dinning option in mind. So perhaps being a fast food shop, J-dog might not be as populated as other restaurants on the same street. I went today for a quick dinner and found it was actually pretty nice. So hop in here to get their dogs for snack or for a quick meal.

Oolaa - Italian with fancy ambiance

★★★☆☆
$$$ (with alcohol)

Oolaa is an italian restaurant with both romantic and lively ambiance. The restaurant was huge, sectioned in three area: an intimate dining room on the right, a casual dinning room/bar area on the left and an open pizza kitchen with several bar tables and sofa in the middle. If you are coming with someone special, do make a reservation ahead to secure your table at the more romantic section on the right.

Izumi Curry - Look Does Not Necessarily Equate Taste

★★☆☆☆
$$

Izumi Curry was on my to try list since it was opened in TST Sogo. The hype was huge back then, but I still do not have the urge to go all the way to Tsim Sha Tsui just for a plate of curry. It was until today I that I went and was excited about it.

I was seated on the side brunch even though there are tables available, but it was quite nice since i can face the street view from the window. The menu choice was vast, but it wasn't hard to figure out what I want.

Panash - Tasteless Croissant

☆☆☆☆☆
$

I seldom get breads at Panash, because many breads are too sweet for my liking. I went there recently after work for a quick snack before dinner because I was starving. After I picked a pain au chocolate, I found some croissant looking kind of alright and decided to get it for breakfast sometime. Even though the croissant is airy and light, it did not have any buttery taste. It was also not flaky enough. The croissant tasted so bad that I swear I would not buy it again.

Quartet Cookies 曲奇四重奏 - Best Palmier in HK

★★★★★
$

I am going to kick start my 2013 blog post with a short view on my favourite cookie shop - Quartet Cookies. To be exact, it is their buttery and flaky palmier that I am crazy for.

A side story from Quartet Cookies, I want to talk about Jenny's Bakery for a bit. During the Chinese New Year, people (especially people from China) were mad crazy about getting Jenny's Bakery for gifts. Somehow Jenny's Bakery appears to them that it is the best food souvenir to get in Hong Kong. I heard there was a crazy period where there was absolutely no way for people to buy cookies from Jenny's Bakery and that they have made enough money to take a few months off. Anyway, my point was that my family got a few of Quartet palmier as gifts for my relatives.

Happy Lemon - WORST Tea Ever tasted

☆☆☆☆☆
$

Craving for a nice cup of milk tea with black jelly, I passed by Happy Lemon in Kowloon Bay during lunch and decided to grab a cup to go. I was elated to see Happy Lemon offers black jelly and taro balls as option because not many Taiwanese tea shops in Hong Kong have it.
