Roundhouse - Texas Barbecues Taste Like This...?

Price: $$
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

Roundhouse is the first Taproom in Hong Kong that features 25 types of crafts beers on tap which some are exclusively offered to them. Apart from the craft beer, Roundhouse is also famous for their authentic Texas barbecue. As a big fan of Chef Austin Fry, I went to try the barbecue items here tonight.

Campers - Homey Japanese Food

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★☆☆

I saw an Instagram feed earlier this week on a drooling looking curry dish, with title "Slow Cook Short rib Beef Curry". Hmmm sounds yum, asked where it is and turned out to be Campers, a homestyle Japanese restaurant at Quarry Bay.

Duddell's - The Second Attempt And...?

Price: $$$
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

I have a mix feelings towards Duddell's. I had a good dim sum experience but I also had a bad dining experience. I got an invitation from Duddell's offering a complimentary dinner tasting to make up the first bad experience that I had. Judging from great my dim sum lunch, I decided to give Duddell's a second chance. I also grabbed Su with me, wanting to see if they truly do improve. But do they? Please read on...

Mini Bangkok - Mediocre Thai in Kownloon City

Price: $$
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

Kowloon City is crowned for offering the best Thai food in Hong Kong. There are numerous Thai restaurants there and my favourite is the one called Cheong Fak. My last visit to Kowloon City was already a year ago, so I was very excited in trying Thai food in Kowloon City again. This time we went to a Thai restaurant called Mini Bangkok.

Mini Bangkok is among one of the famous Thai restaurant in Kowloon City. It gets so popular that they opened a neighborhood restaurant solely for barbecue & grill, they even have their own dessert shop around the area as well!

Isola Bar & Grill - Come Only for Its Magnificent View

Price: $$$$
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

It was a delightful surprise dining at Isola Bar & Grill as I always thought it was just a "shopping mall restaurant". It is the Italian restaurant that can offer you different vibes all in one place. The ambiance is lively at the bar, chill at the outdoor dining area and romantic over the main dining area.

Blisshive - Not As Good As I Expected

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

BlissHIVE Bakery Café is a bakery at Tai Hang that makes fresh bread, it is also a pretty nice cafe to spend the afternoon (ambiance wise). The floor to ceiling window allows sufficient sunlight into the cafe. I love the cheerful music playing at the background and the constant flow of coffee aroma in the air. The ambience here relaxes me.

Common Room - Cold Food In Tiny Portion

Price: $$
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

My third and very last restaurant for the Dining City Restaurant Week was Common Room. I was not too sure at the beginning if the dinner menu worth a visit during the RW, but the menu did not look bad so my plan went on.

Common Room is located at the heart of Lan Kwai Fong, Central. With a light projection of its logo on the floor of Wo On Lane, you could probably guess Common Room is a pretty hip place to dine in. The furnishing at Common Room is rather rustic and woody, very lounge like and cool.

Seorae - Korean BBQ with Grilled Egg

Price: $$
Cravingness: ★★☆☆

Just don't get too excited seeing the grilled egg yet, I am gonna be a spoiler and tell you Seorae's grill egg tasted bad and is not even close to the one I had in Korea. As far as I know, Seorae is the first Korean BBQ restaurant in HK that offers a griller that has space for grilling eggs and kimchi. Let me know if you find some other ones in Hong Kong, I would really love to try it out.

Tapaella Grill - A Spanish Disappointment

Price: $$
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

There are cuisines that I would grow sick of, but definitely not Spanish! I went to Tapaella Grill in Kenny Town tonight. Tapaella Grill is a petite Spanish restaurant with simple furnishing and feels like a home run restaurant. I was expecting friendly and warm staff but staff here are quite cold. While I was also thinking a petite Spanish restaurant would not be too popular on Hau Wo Street, the night was actually full house, not to mention it was a rainy night.

Van Gogh Kitchen - Homey Restaurant

Price: $$$$
Cravingness:★★☆☆☆

Don't know if you have seen a red signboard with word "Van Gogh Kitchen" on Hennesy Road before, I saw that every morning on my way to work in my previous job. Van Gogh kitchen, a homey Italian restaurant at Causeway Bay opened by a Canadian Migrant after his success in his first dream cafe - Small Potato. Expanding his party themed empire, Van Gogh Kitchen was setup and was positioned as a mid range Italian Restaurant offering good food in a comfy environment.

Gu Fah Bakery - Indigenous Delights

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

When we are looking for Phoenix Rolls, we would usually think of big commercial brands like Kee Wah Bakery in Hong Kong or Macau brands like Choi Heong Yuen or Koi Kei. Despite some local petite shops at places like Lee Yuen Moon, there is also another local brand called Gu Fah Bakery. Gu Fah bakery offers a great range of Chinese Bakery that are made in Hong Kong which are perfect for gifts or as souvenir to family and friends.

Morihachi Tamago - For Egg Lovers But...

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

I knew about Morihachi Tamago's existence from my friend Su's Facebook post on a drooling egg toast. Being an egg lover, I went immediately a few days later.

The menu has a similar design as Coco Curry Ichibanya, even the way how you can add extra salad or drinks into your main. There is a lot of options on the menu, you could spend quite a while before figuring out what you want.

Fiat Caffé - New Items on Menu

Price: $$
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

If you walk along Leighton Road, you might pass by Fiat Caffé and think it is nothing but a car showroom. The two floors Fiat Caffé is a great concept by bringing food and a car showroom together (like how Ikea brought snack shop/ restaurant into their stores). With an eye catching Fiat model displaying on the ground floor, passenger's attention are definitely drawn in. When you step into the shop, an instant flow of coffee aroma hits you and then you will realise there is a cafe located on top.

The Yuu - Tamagoyaki

Price: $$
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

Tamagoyaki is one of my favourite Japanese food. I have tried some Tamagoyaki in Japan and they all tasted pretty nice. I usually like them fluffy, smooth, eggy and mild to stronger sweetness. Many restaurants in Hong Kong fail to make tamago in distinguishable layers which leads to very solid and dense omelete texture.

My friends said the Tamagoyaki in The Yuu is nice and brought me there today to give it a try. They ordered Tamagoyaki with cheese for me and left me with no choice. (I generally prefer traditional Tamagoyaki if possible.)

The News Room - Love the Pear Tarte Tatin (only)

Price: $$
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

The News Room, located at Quarry bay is the my last restaurant to try in the Press Room Group. We came here tonight to celebrate my friend's dinner and to take advantage of the 40% off on the al la carte menu every Tuesday with American Express Credit Card. The dinner was enjoyable with my lovely friends but the food offered by the Press Room Group was once again quite disappointing. Fortunately my friends still like it, if not I would feel bad about it.

The Pawn - Failed me once again

Mazazu Crepe - Bad Hokkaido Ice-cream

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

After having the Hokkaido milk ice-cream in Times square's Kasho Chaya(菓匠茶屋), I fell deepy in love with Hokkaido ice-cream. I passed by Mazazu Crepe when I went to the supermarket and Sogo and found this enormous sign promoting thei Hokkaido milk Ice-cream. I was immediately interested and went to get a cone.

Izumi Curry - Look Does Not Necessarily Equate Taste

★★☆☆☆
$$

Izumi Curry was on my to try list since it was opened in TST Sogo. The hype was huge back then, but I still do not have the urge to go all the way to Tsim Sha Tsui just for a plate of curry. It was until today I that I went and was excited about it.

I was seated on the side brunch even though there are tables available, but it was quite nice since i can face the street view from the window. The menu choice was vast, but it wasn't hard to figure out what I want.
