Hokkaido Dairy Farm Milk Restaurant - Scramble Egg Sandwich

Having heard of Hokkaido Dairy Farm's fame, today I finally had the chance to dine in here. There was quite a lot of people queuing at the restaurant when we arrived at lunch, but the wait was only around 10 minutes before we got our seats.

The Gourmet Burger Union

The recent Beer Pong Tournament did get me to dine a lot in lkf. After our last visit in the Cul-De-Sac, today we decided to dine in Gourmet Burger Union which is just right opposite to CDS.

On our way up the slope, we got this $10 promotion coupon from GBU's worker which suited us perfectly. The GBU store was extremely tiny, it could only fit less than six customers at one time. There was just a couple dinning when we arrived the restaurant, but I felt claustrophobic already.

Indulgence in Ireland's Potato

In Causeway Bay, despite people, the next thing you can find most easily on street is food. Restaurant, fast food stalls and convenient stores are everywhere. Seemingly food is not a scarce resource anymore. The supply floods the market while the demand is surged by the increase of Mainland Tourists, and of course, foodie like us.

I could never ever resist the evil aroma from all the foods at street in Causeway Bay. Today I was led to Ireland's Potato and got myself a cup of chips. Let's just for once forget about the calories.

Starbucks | Toffee Nut Latte

Before we started our art jamming class and right after our filling lunch, everyone was in a food coma zombie mode and desperately needed a cup of coffee to wake ourselves up.

We thought there wouldn't be any nice coffee shop around the area in Lai Chi Kok, but here we found a Starbucks at the perfect corner!

Milkissimo - Pricy Gelatto

Having heard of a gelatto store in The One, I went circling around the floors and finally brought myself to Milkissimo. I was pretty excited when I saw the gelatto store but got even more excited when I saw the cup size, as in a negative way.

2 Flavours Cup Size and 3 Flavours Cup Size
The cup was extremely small and could not hold much gelatto at all. Even though the gelato shoots up the hill, it still did not fill the cup. No matter how great their Hokkaido milk quality is, the gelatto was still pretty pricy. I mean, the cup size was similar to agnes b froyo tasting cup's size.

PHO - We Need Some Authentic PHO!

Having a very artistic afternoon, we went for Art Jaming in Lai Chi Kok. The lesson finished at 5pm, then we decided to head for an early dinner at Tsim Sha Tsui and go watch Narnia.

My friend said she had once encountered a pretty nice Vietnamese restaurant in Ashley Road and decided to bring me there. Upon arriving Ashley Road, I saw the logo of Pho Vietnamese Restaurant and I suddenly realised I had seen this logo in Causeway! Finally we found some nice Vietnamese Restaurant that is more authentic (although not totally) Vietnamese than Green Cottage. (Click to read review on Green Cottage)

Froyo Race Stop 13 ♥ Tuttimelon

Watching a movie at The One tonight, passing by Tuttimelon and suddenly wondered whether I had written a review on it or not. Per checking my food blog, find no signs of tuttimelon's existency. Hence we decided to taste it again,

Although opening for months, there was still a line for people to queue for the froyo. Tuttimelon works by weighting Froyo, there was only1 cup size available at store and the cup was huge which was pretty much a rip off. There were like 8 or more flavors available at store, you could have the flavours alone or have them mixed together to give a twist to the taste. The store runs a DIY style, you squeezed the amount of froyo you want, add the dry as well as wet toppings as much as your like by yourselves. Everything was decided by customers and usually customers are always out of their mind when it comes to DIY. Hence I could pretty much sure everyone's cup must cost over $30. What I love the most about the froyo DIY machines was that there was signs describing how tarty, sweet and creamy the froyo you are about to get. Although I found it not very trustworthy later, it was still a good reference to the customer.

Royce - White Chocolate Bar

Cravingness: ★★★★★

Getting 2 boxes of Royce Nama Chocolate, I got this white chocolate bar or free. I originally thought a bar of chocolate would be less nice when compared to the Nama chocolate, yet the taste was amazingly nice.

Shake'em Buns - Cheese Steaks Indulgence

After the heavenly tasty Cheese Steaks from Cul-De-Sac, it got itself a pretty prestigious position in my favourite food list. From my last visit to Shake'em Buns, I vaguely remembered the menu mentioned Cheese Steaks. So I went to check it out.

From what I remembered, Shake'em Buns usually toasted their buns for burgers. The buns were usually toasted very crunchy and went extremely nice with the Burgers. While Cul-De-Sac's bun was a bit on the soft side, I held great expectation on Shake'em Bun's Cheese Steaks.

Crystal Jade | Inexpensive Shanghainese Cuisine

Before our Art Jamming lesson began, we decided to gather at Wanchai for a quick lunch first. Having no idea on what to eat, we decided to pick one restaurant randomly at Tai Yau Plaza and so here we went to Crystal Jade.

1) Beancurd with Preserved Egg $40

The Beancurd looked delicious but not as meticulously prepared as Shanghai Xiao Nan Guo Cuisine's. The Beancurd was icy but the texture was not particularly smooth. Taste wise the beancurd itself was tasteless but was delicious when go with the sauce, preserved egg and the shredded pork.

宏發燒臘 -| Mediocre Roasties at Attractive Price

Having much work to do at office, I decided to eat take away for lunch today. Speaking of take away food, I immediately thought of this roasts take away store that I passed by several times a week. When I arrive the restaurant, there was a few people queuing for the lunch boxes. A lunch box with 2 roasties cost only $20 which was quite a bargain.

Tai Hing Roast - The Best Dish

If you ask me what is the best dish in Tai Hing, I will carry no doubt and shout 'Baked rice with BBQ pork and peach in honey sauce'. It is simply too delicious that I could recall its flavour vividly on my palate whenever I think of the dish.

The Big Bite - A Tale of 3 People and 50 wings!

Tuesday is here and so is Big Bites' Wings Night. Their renown buffalo wings was all priced at $3/pc in any quantity (minimum 5pc) upon the purchase of a $15 beer or drink.

Wings Night is a popular trend for bars in the US for friends to eat inexpensive food and grab a beer. We saw lots of ppl tonight but it seems none of them are here for the wings.

My crazy friends wanted to order 20 wings per person which I have objected the idea instantly. We compromised to order less and get an chips order instead. Then they went to order, which I later regretted since they ended up ordering 50 wings without informing me. 50 WINGS OMG!

Curry Bee - Deteriorating Food Quality at

Missing the Japanese curry this Sunday afternoon and feeling the laziness, we decided to stick in Causeway for lunch. Curry Bee came straight to our mind and there we went our lunch.

We didn't expect a line at this late lunch hour but there was a line in front of the main Bee at Jaffe Road. I remembered there was another store at the basement of Sogo, so we went there instead. Yet we saw a longer line waiting. Oh ya, there was this frequent on sale in Sogo that brought this crowds. We have no choice but to wait in line then.

I was elated that we had a corner seat after the wait! I always love corner seat, only in that arrangement you could feel the intimacy and privacy with the love one you are dinning with.

Yu-Raku | Cosy Japanese Restaurant

If you do not pay attention, you won't possibly notice this cosy little Japanese restaurant located on this street. The restaurant was run by Japanese, and mostly probably founded by one too. The restaurant was more of a Japanese styled pub restaurant, meaning Sake, beer and snacks are the main dishes, and hence there was not much choices on the menu.

Mc Donald's | Weeeeee Le Grand

Watching the cute girl with a pair of big eyes and a bob hair saying 'wee' made me once wonder how would this bread tasted like. Honestly I am not a big fan of Mc Donald's and I won't usually be interested in trying their new products. However I heard the bread was nice and was worth to try.

Victoria City Seafood Restaurant | Delicious dishes but horrible dim sum

Very Savory Peanuts & Fishes
Sunday family lunch as usual, we went to Victoria City Seafood for dim sum. I dine here once with clients before and the dishes were quite nice here. The environment there was pretty decent, the noisiness was acceptable. The interior was nice but definitely not as grand as Prince Restaurant.

The tea pot was cute and was heated all the time on a candle. Seemingly posh, the restaurant did not have enough manpower to serve all its customers. The service speed was quite slow as a result. One nice thing about Victoria City Seafood Restaurant was that their dim sum would not come to you at the same time. They came one after each other which gave us time in between to taste the dim sum as our own pace.

Du Lac Bleu | Quickie at CWB

I recently found out it is pretty difficult to find a restaurant that you have never visited before and at reasonable price. We remembered there is a Cha Chaan Teng that does pot rice in Jardine's Street and went straight down to fill our stomach.

The restaurant was packed on a Sunday evening, the waitress directed us to the second floor where more seats are available. The restaurant on the second floor where interior was simple and seemingly less nicely furnished. Tables and chairs were simple wooden chair. There were several fans hanged on the high wall and producing breezy winds. Heaps of picture sticked on wall showing their significant dishes in the restaurants.

Green Cottage | Any Nice Vietnamese Cusine around?

Having too much burger these day, we decided to have something that feels light and healthy. A bowl of beef vietnamese noodles just served the criterion. Talking about Vietnamese cuisine in Causeway Bay, I could not think of any other restaurant but Green Cottage. Were there really not much Vietnamese cuisine in Causeway or are they just simply not good enough to be remembered? Anyway,  please do recommend one if you find one nice.

Froyo Race Stop 12 ♥ YogurTime

YogurTime is located in J Residence at Wanchai, an insanely beautiful and decent spot in the day oandat night. The store has a relaxing ambiance and had colourful decor with huge pictures of fruiteseverywhere. I particularly love the white lamp hanging on the ceiling. Yet the store was quite small and had only three seats available. The music was hip and fast beat, making the store lively.

Yuen Kee | The Best Beef Brisket By Far

Beef Brisket noodle bowl is such a normal dish in Hong Kong that I do not hold any particular expectation on them. Yet I do notice the quality really does differ a lot from restaurants to restaurants. I am no expert in food, but I do believe the beef brisket tasted best when there are small amounts of fat attached to it, so it better be not to lean.

Cul-de-Sac | Wow! So this is Cheese Steaks!

Right before the 2010 beer pong tournament commenced at Hush, we went to lkf for dinner and I suggested Cul-de-Sac which located at one of the busiest street at lkf renowned for Thai cuisine.

Cul-de-Sac is a word of French origin refers to dead end street with only one inlet. In modern suburban use, Cul-de-Sac is used to calm vehicle traffic. Cul-de-Sac restaurant in this case might means a place to gather away from the crowds in lkf.

The Cul-de-Sac is an American fast food restaurant which serves hotdogs, burgers and other snacks. It is a tiny store with only four high tables and several bar table seats, yet its decor is in western pub style and it had successfully captured the lively ambiance in the area. Not to mention their huge open kitchen which mouth watery aroma dispersed all over the restaurant.

Tai Hing | Tiny Branch Nice Roasties

Working late tonight,  starved to the max, I ended up dining in Tai Hing for a quick dinner. The branch was tiny here as they only offered roasted dishes here. I was a bit disappointed since I was planning to have baked barbecue pork dish, anyway the most important thing now was to fill my stomach.

Shake'em Buns | Nice place Nice Food Nice Service

Having heard of the name Shake'em Buns for so many times, I finally got my chance to dine there! We arrived the J Residence but had no idea where the restaurant was, so we walked round the building and checked things out at the same time. During the circling, we located several decent restaurants in the building that we have heard of but not knowing where they are. Seems I would be dinning here a lot in the coming weeks.

Yun Nan Noodles Specialty Restaurant

I went for Yun Nan noodles with my colleagues for a quick lunch. Even though the restaurant wasn't among the popular ones around Wanchai, there were quite a queue at 1pm.

Crabtree & Evelyn | Chocolate Cake indulgent

Meticulously packed.
I did not feel particularly hungry this afternoon, so I went to the Crabtree & Evelyn Tea House for a piece of cake. The place were mainly used as product showcase, rather than tearoom during the weekdays I guess. The staff said they would usually have more tables and chairs later the day at tea time.

The cake fridge displayed four different kinds of cake, which each and everyone of them looked appetising. My attention was drawn to the two pieces of chocolate fudge cake on the left top corner. The staff seems not to know what the cakes were and had to confirm with someone else each time I asked a question. She did not even know the name of the chocolate cake that I was having...Despite the lack of knowledge, the staff was actually very nice.

The chocolate cake was packed really nicely in a floral paper box and was put into the Crabtree shopping bag. A set of plastic fork and spoon was packed alongside the box. There was a plastic wrapping along the side of the cake and also presented this awkward expiry date stamp too.

Froyo Race Stop 11 ♥ Myogurt

Loitering in Wanchai, near 188 we found two froyo stores opened next to each other on the very same street. Both of the stores did not give you any good impression with their decor, especially Yippee, whose name sounded exciting but the decor was a bit shaddy that you would not even dare to step in.

On the other hand, Myogurt is comparatively more decent. There were picture frames hanging, glass container for toppings and a window with wide variety of toppings for selecion. However, the store's lighting was still a bit dark, making the store shady and dirty at the same time.

Capital Cafe | The Cha Chaan Teng that Fulfills Its Mission

I never ever attempted to visit the store during lunch hours in the weekdays. Well. I actually did try once and ended up waiting for 15 minutes for nothing since we had got quite a number of us waiting. So I ended up visiting the store today. The cha chaan teng was still packed today but not as packed as the weekdays. The decor was quite retro with checked wall and floor tiles and white framed photos of artists hooked on wall.

There were quite a few selections of set on the menu, and I chose the one with barbecue pork spaghetti. The menu stated the company's slogan/ mission, 'Prepare the best eggs and milk teas meticulously with heart.'

Du Lac Bleu | A big disappointment to begin my Sunday

Passing by and sniffing the seductive aroma of the pastries several times a week, I could not resist but visit the restaurant today for breakfast, getting ready to start my nice Sunday morning. Upon arriving the Cha Chaan Teng, I saw no freshly baked pineapple pastries that are usually trayed at the front door. Doubtly I went into the restaurant and checked their menus out. The staff told me they don't serve pineapple bun on Sunday. Very disappointedly I had to choose my next best alternative.

HKUST Cafe | Missing the School life

Two of my ex-cabinet friends were graduating this year, I was invited back to my old Uni for graduation photos taking. To be honest, I didn't like the Uni at all, only the people and the Cafe was the things I would love and miss.

Since most of us were hungry, we went to the Cafe for a light lunch. My favourite food in the cafe was Beef Burger, I was very excited about having it again.

Kin Kee Cafe | BEHOLD! Pineapple Bun With Luncheon Meat & Egg!

Yippee, its breakfast time! In this bright and warm Saturday morning, I woke up early and decided to eat out for breakfast. I remembered once I saw this appealing pineapple bun with fillings in it somewhere in causeway bay. I checked it online and went straight down for breakfast. Studying in Causeway Bay for years, I was surprised I never once paid attention to this little street in Jardine's street. Anyway its good to know there is such a nice restaurant around, especially for breakfast and tea.

There were all day sets available, but the only thing interested me was the pineapple bun. I knew the restaurant is most renowned in the pineapple bun with the fish cake, but I wasn't a big fan of fish, so I didn't have the intention to try that. From the menu, it said Pineapple Bun with Ham & Egg. I asked the staff if I could have Pineapple Bun with Luncheon mean & Egg instead, and there went my breakfast.

1) Pineapple Bun with Luncheon Meat & Egg $13
I was really anticipated for the bun, so I was thinking how they would prepared the bun once I had ordered. Turned out it took quite a while for them to serve my bun, which was a good thing since it proved they had put in effort in preparing the bun, even its just a bun. The pineapple bun was served very hot. When I lifted the bun up with the oil proved tissue paper, I could literally feel the crispiness and softness of the Bun. The crispy and soft texture gave me a contended feeling upon every bite on the bun. The bun was sandwiched with 2 layers of luncheon meat and 1 layer of folded egg. The egg was made over hard but was quite smooth, the luncheon meat was not oily at all. What I found most amazing was how perfectly the sweetness of the bun matched with the saltiness of the luncheon meat and egg. It created an amazing taste which I enjoyed a lot.

Close up view on the pineapple bun
2) Hot Milk Tea $11
The hot milk tea was prepared steamingly hot when served, so I had to left it aside for a while before I could enjoy it. To be blunt, the tea taste was too concentrated which somehow gave a bitter taste towards the end. The milk tea was smooth however not particularly thick. It was definitely not my best cup of milk tea.

Lan Fong Cafe | All Day HK Style Breakfast

For today's lunch I wanted to have some typical cha chaan teng lunch set, so I went to Lan Fong Cafe in Jaffe Road. As typical, there were lots of people waiting for seats. The system for seating was a mess, some people were queuing at the front door, while some people just went in and seat at anyplace they found or just waited next to a table which is very likely to be emptied. Fortunately, I had my seat real soon, but I kept hearing people complaining about the seat arranging system.

Anyway, I ordered this lunch set which had my typical cha chaan teng's favourite barbecue pork spaghetti and butter bread. The set also included an egg omelette and a drink which I chose hot milk tea. The serving speed was amazingly efficient, I guess my wait after order was within 5-10 minutes, which was very efficient indeed.

The Big Bite | The Best Burger Bargin Ever

I had a great burger bargain tonight, thanks to Openrice.com for this +$1 to get a poutine on every burger/ hot dog purchase coupon. Yet north point was not the best dinning location for my friend and I, and we barely go to north point. We arrived the restaurant at around 730pm and found the restaurant spaceous, as in not much customers were dining there. we chose to sit at the high table with uncomfortable stool since it seemed to have more privacy.

Paisano's Pizza | Challenging The 24" Pizza, To Be

Planning for a few days, anticipating to challenge the 24" pizza wholly by my friend and I, changed our mind instantly when we saw the real 24" pizza in front of our eyes in the Paisano's Pizza restaurant. Giving it a real thought, we reckon 1-2 slices of that 24"would kill us straight away, which even a take away would take us at least 2 meals to polish the whole 24" pizza. We ended up calling for a 16" pizza and half a dozen garlic bread.

Pizza's sample size hooked on wall.

八方雲集 | Delicious Pan Fried Dumplings on Street

There are simply too much fast food street stalls nowadays that sometimes you just feel too guilty about eating them. My friend recommended this dumpling place to me and claiming it is the best dumplings stores in town. I got a bit interested and went trying today.

Froyo Race Stop 10 ♥ Cherry On Top

When I started my Froyo race, there weren't really that many froyo stores in town. Since there are more and more opening nowadays, I do not have the incentive to try every single one out now. Yet I would definately try one if I pass any froyo store(given that I am not full).

I passed by Cherry On Top today and thought it was a new Berrygood branch. The decor was similar since it was all pink and white. I guess most froyo store are in pink and white colours then.

They charged the froyo by oz, which I personally reckon is a more ripped off strategy among all those froyo store. There were six different flavours today and they mentioned repeatedly the flavours will alter every now and then. The flavours were open for trial but I would like to stick to my original flavour and had two fruits topping among tens of colourful toppings.

Shakey's Pizza | A Place For Youngster To Cluster

Despite September, November is the most horrible month in a year. Why are there so many November stars? 3 of my friends are having birthdays this month, and one of them chose Shakey's Pizza to celebrate their big month. I had not tried Shakey's Pizza before, but I heard it was not that good, so I did not really anticipating much about it.

Sun King Yuen | Curry Time!

Time for some curry! My friend who worked nearby mentioned this store ever since she knew I started working in Wanchai area. As I was around the area today, I went to check it out.

The restaurant was quite easy to find. If you went out from the exit for the Southorn Playground, make a left turn, cross the street and went straight into the street adjacent the parallel road and there you will see Sun King Yuen Curry Restaurant on your left. The restaurant was smaller than I thought and was quite packed. Luckily there were two seats available, so no waiting was needed.

小甜谷 | 特濃牛乳燉蛋白♥

My phone rang in the middle of the night, right before I showered. I hesitated for a second whether to answer the call, but I took it in the end. Two close friends of mine decided to go for a late night drive and asked whether I would like to join. I told them I was already on pyjamas, and they said they were too. Ridicously as we were, we went out with our pyjama.

We drove around and decided to pay a visit at 小甜谷. They said it was founded by the film star Jo Koo and heard that the dessert quality was pretty nice. Tai Han was renowned to be the newly cultured area with fab fusion restaurants exta. It constructs of many small lanes, so it was rather difficult to locate the restaurant correctly. We drove around in Tai Han and worried that it was closed as we did not know the store's openning hours. Luckily the restaurant was still opened, and we grasped our seat promptly once we parked our car.

Sawdust Dessert | $25 for A Small Sawdust Pudding?

Somehow I think I lost track on food pricing. Today I passed by Sawdust Dessert, although having my diet, I could not resist the idea of indulging myself into my beloved sawdust pudding. I went to check the menu out and was actually quite surprised to see it was priced at $25. I was not sure whether this was a good bargain. Anyhow my sweet tooth had succeed in persuading me to get the sawdust pudding.

BLT Burger

Not the Usual BLT Burger
★★★★☆
$$

In the middle of my diet, I was invited to join my team's lunch buffet treat after a great success of the exhibition held in the Production Creation Center. Happy was eating in Covotel Hotel Le Cafe which I had never been to before and the never ending Ben & Jerry's 4 ice-cream flavours, plus nice chocolate brownie. Sad was that it triggered my deliberately hidden desire on craving food. So the outcome was I went for a feast in BLT Burger.

We have been talking about BLT Burger for quite a while, it was mentioned more often recently since it was elected to be the Best Burger Restaurant in town by Times Out Magazine. I was utmost excited to dine in this restaurant and tasted the best burger in town.

I had been arguing with my friend that BLT Burger doesn't stand for Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato but something else. Here we stood in front of the restaurant and here came the restaurant's name: Bistro Laurent Tourondel Burger, which apparently Laurent Tourondel was the renown chef who founded BLT Burger in New York.

BOURBON - Caramel Crepe Cookies

I forgot where I got this pack of biscuit stick, but I did remember how reluctant I was to try this biscuit stick out. As you can see from the packaging, there seemed to be a thick chewy caramel filling in the hollow throughout the biscuit sticks. It seemed to be too much for a night snack (which I nowadays enjoyed and made me gain weight..sign..). Today I finally put forward and tried this pack of biscuit and guess what, it was not anything I thought it would be.

The packaging of the biscuit sticks was pretty nice. I like how they contrasted crimson yellow with black stripes. The biscuit sticks were very nicely designed with twirl pattern that went through the stick. There were in total 2 individual packs, each containing 6 biscuit sticks with them.

The instant I unwrapped the pack, I still thought the biscuit sticks would be very filling, since the pack had a very creamy and thick caramel aroma. My first bite on the biscuit sticks had cleared my thoughts and worried. The filling in the biscuit sticks were just chocolate flavoured with caramel. It should be milk chocolate which did not give too much a sweet taste. However I was disappointed that the caramel flavour was a bit too light to be tasted. The biscuit sticks were not so much a biscuit but were really crepe-like. No wonder it said CARAmel Crepe cookies on the box!

Overall, I reckon it was just a so-so snack.
