Time for some curry! My friend who worked nearby mentioned this store ever since she knew I started working in Wanchai area. As I was around the area today, I went to check it out.
The restaurant was quite easy to find. If you went out from the exit for the Southorn Playground, make a left turn, cross the street and went straight into the street adjacent the parallel road and there you will see Sun King Yuen Curry Restaurant on your left. The restaurant was smaller than I thought and was quite packed. Luckily there were two seats available, so no waiting was needed.
The menu was allocated in the stand on the table, looking a bit dirty and sticky. There was no English menu available in the restaurant. The waitress was very friendly though, she recommended us the best selling items of the restaurant, and so I ordered as she recommended.

Fried Beef Flat Noodles $45
The fried beef flat noodles came in horribly oily, as seen from the picture, you could see how reflective the flat noodles were. Despite the look, the noodles did taste really oily and smooth, it was also very salty. The quantity was pretty generous, it should be difficult for a girl to polish a dish. However judging the oiliness, I wouldn't suggest taking the whole plate. In the middle of the meal, I realised most of the people ordered this dish too. I guess this is one of their most popular dish, yet I do not know why.
Deep Fried Pork Curry $50
The pork was very nicely fried to give a brown coloured crispy skin and had a nice fry food aroma. The pork although was not juicy, was very tender. The curry was quite spicy, out of my expectation. The spiciness was acceptable though. The curry flavour was quite oily as well, and there is only one potato in it. The curry, given its fame, was quite disappointing. May be I had too much expectation from it.
Milk Tea
Although it was not served on a porcelain cup, the milk tea tasted quite smooth and thick. It was one typical Hong Kong styled milk tea, and I like it.Sun King Yuen Curry Restaurant
