Tuesday is here and so is Big Bites' Wings Night. Their renown buffalo wings was all priced at $3/pc in any quantity (minimum 5pc) upon the purchase of a $15 beer or drink.
Wings Night is a popular trend for bars in the US for friends to eat inexpensive food and grab a beer. We saw lots of ppl tonight but it seems none of them are here for the wings.
My crazy friends wanted to order 20 wings per person which I have objected the idea instantly. We compromised to order less and get an chips order instead. Then they went to order, which I later regretted since they ended up ordering 50 wings without informing me. 50 WINGS OMG!
We(or they) had our 5pcs of suicide and 45pcs in hot. The wings were deep fried before mixing with their spicy sauce recipe in a large mixing bowl at counter.
The suicide wings were served first with celery and blue cheese, which gave us a big surprise since the menu says no sauces or sides will be served with wings on Wings Night. Given the amount we ordered, I don't think they mind giving us some sides.
Among all the food, I chose to have a bite on the celery, it was fresh, chewy and had a strong celery taste. The blue cheese sauce as mentioned before, not thick enough and less savoury than BLT Burger's blue cheese sauce. I then dipped the celery with a bit of the suicide sauce and OMG! It was insanely spicy and I felt my throat burning.
Before I had my wings, I dipped them into the blue cheese sauce. Miraculously the spiciness was brought down by the blue cheese sauce. Since the suicide was real spicy, the 45 hot wings that served afterwards didn't seem to be spicy at all.
The french onion soup was a total disappointment. First it was served on a paper cup, second it had no melted cheese on top, third the coutons were crispy and had no taste of the soup, apparently it was not brewed in the soup, and lastly the onions were not caramelised. Every single essence of the french onion soup was absent here.
The soup had a thin texture and possessed no onion taste. The soup also went bitter when left for a while. The only nice thing in the bowl was the melted cheese, which is hard to taste bad.
Taters'n Cream was actually chips topped with sour cream and bacon bits. Quite awkwardly, it was served in a paper cup, while the poutine was served on a paper plate-like container. The cup design was such a bad idea, the sour cream could not reach most of the chips in the cup and some of the bacon bits fell on the table and was thus wasted. The chips was in medium fatness, it was crispy on the outside and soft within. The chips had a pint of potato taste and was nice in general.
At the end of the meal, I surrendered after taking five pieces of wing. We ended up taking 14 wings away lol.
