Cravingness: ★★★★☆

Feast, Food by EAST has been on my to try list for a long time, it is until recent that I visit Taikoo Shing more frequently. Located at the EAST hotel, the hotel restaurant Feast is always filled with office workers during weekdays. That pretty much explains how popular their semi-buffet lunch and dinner are. I am invited over today to try their new a al carte menu which I will explain more below.

Lab Made - Mid-Autumn Specials

Cravingness: ★★★★☆

A really late entry on Lab Mad's Mid Autumn's liquid nitrogen ice-cream flavour, just a recap on the nice HK Custard Bun flavoured that I have tried. I did not try the mooncake one as I already have had too many mooncakes.

The Steak House Wine Bar + Grill - The Steak King?

Price: $$$$$
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆

Whenever we talk about the best steakhouse in Hong Kong, the Steakhouse Wine Bar + Grill at Intercontinental is always mentioned. Being crowned the Steak King, I finally got the chance to try the steak house since HSBC Premier Visa Card is offering a 20% discount on every al la carte items which is an amazing deal that cannot be missed!

The steakhouse has a similar settings and ambience to any other good steakhouse in Hong Kong - it is spacious, grand but causal at the same time. The very attribute that makes the Steak House stands out is their charcoal grill, which is the one and only charcoal grill in Hong Kong. Despite that they are also known for the topnotch services and the eclectic selection of knives, steaks and condiments! I will explain more in below.

Yorkshire Pudding - The introduction of Premium English Beef

Cravingness: ★★★☆☆

I once hated roasted beef and Yorkshire pudding. When I was still studying in UK, my school canteen serves roasted beef and Yorkshire pudding every Sunday (as we called it Sunday Roast.) Now that I have moved back to Hong Kong for long, I missed the Sunday Roast. When I got the invitation to the luncheon launch of English Beef from EBLEX at Yorkshire Pudding, I was very excited.

清真笑爺 - Halal Mooncake Launching Soon!

There might have lots of mooncake brands in Hong Kong, but none offers Halal certified mooncake. There is one Halal pastry shop, namely 清真笑爺 (Lets call it Halal Shaoye for now as they do not have English name yet), opening soon in Wanchai to cater Muslim's crave for mooncakes but can't due to the use of lard, or without any prayer to Allah before slaughtering.

Halal Shaoye is founded by a wholehearted Muslim. The store is still at its preparation stage, waiting to be opened in Wanchai. I will share more details on this page once the store is opened. To offer authentic and certifies Halal food, Halal Shaoye obtains a certificate issued from the Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong to guarantee quality and properly treated Halal food.

[Macau] Popular Street Snacks - Waffles and Banana Cake

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆

We found a eggette street cart (called 龍眼圍雞蛋仔 in Chinese) when we were on our way to Ruins of St. Paul when we smelled a mouth drooling aroma from Patio das Flores Alley. Although the cart is not visible at all in the dark, the aroma seduces customers to walk into the street to savour their pancakes. This street cart is said to be pretty famous in selling Macau popular street snack - egg waffles/ eggettes, waffles and banana cakes, each selling at MOP9, which is not too bad of a deal.

[Macau] Lord Stow's Bakery's Phenomenon Portuguese Egg Tart

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★★☆

I have been to Macau for multiple times, but last Saturday was my first visit to the most popular Portuguese Egg Tart shop in town, the renowned Lord Stow's Bakery. The reason is because of its relative inconvenient location in Macau at the Coloane Town Square. Recently I was told there are in total 3 branches of Lord Stow's in Macau now with the latest branch at the Venetians. The popularity had spread through the water to other Asia countries, namely South Korea, Japan, Philippines and not that I know, Hong Kong! FYI, Lord Stow's egg tart are under exclusive license to EXpresso at the Excelsior Hong Kong at Causeway Bay.

Gu Fah Bakery - Indigenous Delights

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

When we are looking for Phoenix Rolls, we would usually think of big commercial brands like Kee Wah Bakery in Hong Kong or Macau brands like Choi Heong Yuen or Koi Kei. Despite some local petite shops at places like Lee Yuen Moon, there is also another local brand called Gu Fah Bakery. Gu Fah bakery offers a great range of Chinese Bakery that are made in Hong Kong which are perfect for gifts or as souvenir to family and friends.

Casa Lisboa - Best Value Brunch

Looking for a nice brunch place for the weekend? Here I recommend Casa Lisboa, a restaurant located at LKF Tower offering authentic Portugese Cuisine. Casa Lisboa newly launched a weekend brunch, which is similarly to the lunch menu that they offer during the weekday. With an attractive price of HKD180 for a 3 courses brunch or HKD250 for a 4 courses brunch, you can pick any of your courses from the al larte carte menu! Openrice Event - Fruity Moon Cake Tasting

As some of you might notice I stopped blogging for a while and picked back up in March this year. Since I have not been active in blogging for the past two years, I was actually surprised but elated to be invited to Openrice's Moon cake tasting event. Two years ago around the same time, I had the same invitation from Openrice for a mooncake tasting on some fun twisting flavoured mooncakes .(If you are interested, here is the link for the previous post -> Openrice Mooncakes Tasting Event | 新口味試食報告) This year, we are going to savour several fruity mooncakes offered by different brands.

This year the tasting was more interesting as we were put into test to guess what the fruit components of the mooncake are. It was not a crazy challenge, we almost guessed all the moon cakes right. The tasting was hosted at Teavers, a cafe specialised in tea making at Shau Kei Wan. Teavers arranged some tea pairing for the mooncakes, which was great to kill the mooncake's oiliness.

Shabushabu and sukiyaki were once a fad two or three years ago, now the heat has gone down but there are still lovers around.
