"Coffee or tea?" is a frequently asked question in every day's life. While coffee's bold flavour and aroma are often perferable, OR TEA? stands to urge consumers to drink tea that contains significantly more health benefits than coffee. OR TEA? blends contemporary art and tea together in their innovative series of tea line to arouse awareness. All teas are designed uniquely, each have their own design, benefits and personality to suit consumers for any mood and situation.
I went for a tea paring by OR TEA? today to try their two new series of tea, the Wellbeing and UrbanPop Series. The event was hosted at the al fresco dining area of Sohofama, a health conscious Chinese Restaurant at PMQ, which was perfect for the event!
The Wellbeing line focuses on health and beauty, augmenting the health benefits of Chinese tea with powerful herbs. The line features three teas, Slimming Pu'er, Ginseng Beauty and EnerGinger Tea which I got to try the later two today.
While the UrbanPop line focuses on herbal and floral flavours that relax, soothe and slow down the hectic life of Hong Kong people. The line features five tea, Queen Berry, TropiCoco, Duke's Blues, Beeeee Calm and Merry Peppermint. I only got to try TropiCoco today, but this is fine with me as I do not like fruit teas.
The first pairing was OR Tea? Matcha Twist & Shake and Sohofama's Organic Tofu. The Matcha Twish & Shake is an interesting drink designed like a whisk, seemingly contains solely water in the bottle but secretly trapped green tea power at the cap. Once you twisted the cap, the matcha will slowly diffuse into the water and Ta-dah! there goes your matcha! The matcha was mild and smooth in taste, a very easy tea for drinking. The bottle design is great for on the go. The bottle is only available now in Europe selling around Euro4, but is planning to set foot in Hong Kong next year.
The pairing organic tofu was thinly sliced and topped with shredded preserved egg and spring onions with housemade secret sauce. The tofu was not very smooth in my opinion and delivered weak flavour,
Next up was the OR TEA? Ginseng Beauty paired with Sohofama's Black Truffle Xiao Long Bao. The Ginseng Beauty adds the power of ginseng to Chinese Oolong tea, packing a cupful of antioxidants to keep you feeling young and beautiful. The Black Truffle Xiao Long Bao was deliciou! The pastry was made thin, and the organic minced US pork filling with soup was extremely tasty! The truffle however was too weak for me to taste it,
The third pairing was OR Tea? EnerGinger and Sohofama's Fresh Steamed Whole Flower Crab. The EnerGinger was my favourite tea of the event as it delivered a lemongrass aroma and mild gingery flavour just like the tea you drink right after a relaxing spa treatment! The Steamed Whole Flower Crab was a modern twist where real crab meat was added in to the originally egg whites only dish. The additional however was not significant as the flavour of flower crab was weak.
Finally we had the Or Tea? TropiCoco paired with Coconut Milk Pudding.. TropiCoco blend is beautiful and the blend can actually be eaten as there were dry fruits. I reckon it would be nice to use it as topping in pastries and cakes. The fruit tea was surprisingly mild in flavour and not crazily sweet which I hate. It paired well with the bouncy coconut milk pudding.
I also want to praise the luxurious design of the OR TEA? tea bag which is a triangular shaped mesh bag, not some cheap plastic or paper ones.
I love tea so I was happy to know another tea brand, especially a local one that put their creativity into tea blending. The design of Or Tea? is very unique and some find them beautiful. Or Tea? also produce tea cups with lid and infuser built in which is an excellently idea and the very tea cup that I need at work!

We arrived at the meeting rooms a little over an hour before the event and were told right away by our awesome waitress that a special menu on the table would begin serving half priced food that day.
