As a family tradition, we have dim sum every Sunday afternoon. To be honest, there is not much variation in dim sum which I sometimes get sick of their look and taste.
Today we went to Super Star Seafood Restaurant in Times Square. I laughed at how lame the restaurant's name is, Super Star Seafood Restaurant! Very old fashioned. There was a lot of people waiting for seats but we got ours within 15 minutes or so.
1) Fried Salty Meat & Cauliflower with Sauce
The dish probably could win the worst look of the year. As suggested by its name, the dish was very salty. There was quite a lot of salty meats which were fat but sinfully delicious! The miso paste and the miso beans were both delicious too.
2) Sweet Sesame Rice Dumpling
The rice dumplings looked sloppy when served. They were very soft and lack of chewyness. It had shredded coconuts and sesame on top of the dumplings, but the shredded toppings were too rough in texture. The sesame paste inside was sweet but not smooth and sadly not very tasty.
3) Bake BBQ Pork Buns
Looking scrumptious, the bun was super crunchy in texture too! The yellow golden puff, the bun itself and the base of the bun were all baked to give the maxium crunchyness. The bun was served warm with hot fillings inside. The fillings was at suitable fatness.

4) Pan fried Glutinous Rice with Egg
This is one of my favourite must order dish since I love Glutinous Rice and its outlook very much. The fried egg wrapped around the rice beautifully, the fried egg was quite crispy but was quite hard to chew. The rice was rather soft and lack of texture. There was quite a lot of fillings in the rice but the dish was overall too salty to taste.
5) Rice Dumpling with Soft Head
The dumplings was overly soft, resulting in sloppy textureless skin. The nuts on top of the dumplings were all soaked soft when served. The filling on the other hand was a bit too sweet. This was in fact my worst dish of the day.
6) Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs
This Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs were insanely sour and possessed no sweet taste at all. It was ironically very bitter. The portion was generous, but the meat was far too fat to enjoy.
7) Pan Fried Rice Roll with Dried Shrimp
The Rice Roll had very crispy skin at the top and bottom which left the side and the inside soft. The dried shrimp had a strong taste of shrimp, which also penetrates into the rice rolls. There was quite a lot of green onions within the rice roll which overall tasted nice and gave a great texture.
Most of the dim sum were horribly prepared with ugly appearance and overly seasoned taste. The price was not at all reasonable and I definitely will not come and visit again.
