Mott 32 - Turkey Meets China

Price: $$$$
Cravingness: ★★★1/2

Approaching the end of the year is two very exiting seasons, Thanksgiving and Christmas. And the very first thing that comes in mind is TURKEY! Turkey promotions are everywhere and restaurants under the belt of my beloved culinary group Maximal Concepts, Mott32, Blue Butcher and Fish & Meats have all introduced their own version of turkey. And in Mott 32, it's going to be Peking Turkey! Sounds freaking awesome, isn't it?

Duddell's - The Second Attempt And...?

Price: $$$
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

I have a mix feelings towards Duddell's. I had a good dim sum experience but I also had a bad dining experience. I got an invitation from Duddell's offering a complimentary dinner tasting to make up the first bad experience that I had. Judging from great my dim sum lunch, I decided to give Duddell's a second chance. I also grabbed Su with me, wanting to see if they truly do improve. But do they? Please read on...

Mott 32 - Best Cod Fish On Earth!

Price: $$$$
Cravingness: ★★★★★

Mott 32, an exciting Chinese Restaurant newly opened at central, is the talk of the town lately. I would never ever expect such a great hype on any Chinese restaurant. The grand opening night of Mott 32's was truly grand and magnificent. The entrance was red carpeted all the way to the restaurant, celebrities, skinny models with flashy outfit and smart looking guys were everywhere at the night of the opening.

Mott 32 is the new venture at the gourmet family Maximal Concepts, which also owns restaurants such as Blue Butcher, Brickhouse and Fish and Meat. I am a big fan of the group myself. Given the background, the food quality at Mott 32 is much guaranteed. I was invited over for a tasting at Mott 32 tonight, so let me show you what's good in there.

Duddell's - Dim Sum Lunch

Price: $$
Cravingness: ★★★★☆

Remember my harsh review on Duddell's dinner (Click here to read if you are interested)? It was a terrible dining experience for me and I once thought I will never step into the doorstep of Duddell's ever again. However some of my foodie friends kept telling me how good Duddell's dim sum is (PS they have not tried dinner!), which urged me to go back to Duddell's today for their dim sum.

Blisshive - Not As Good As I Expected

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

BlissHIVE Bakery Café is a bakery at Tai Hang that makes fresh bread, it is also a pretty nice cafe to spend the afternoon (ambiance wise). The floor to ceiling window allows sufficient sunlight into the cafe. I love the cheerful music playing at the background and the constant flow of coffee aroma in the air. The ambience here relaxes me.

Teakha - Nice place to Chill

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆1/2

If you are looking for a cafe to spend a lazy afternoon, Teakha would be your choice. Located at Sheung Wan, this al fresco tea house offers a good range of teas and delicate cakes and pastries. There are a few tables available outdoor, but be warned that this place is very popular and tends to get very crowded during the weekend. Try to arrive before 2pm before the crowd shows up.

LKK - Hong Kong Street Snack Waffle

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆

My sister and I were already big fan of LKK, the famous eggettes (Hong Kong Egg Waffle) snack shop at North Point back when we were in secondary school. There are no numerous branches of LKK now in Hong Kong. Although very easily accessible, the quality varies among branches. Today I went to the branch at Wanchai for their condensed milk and peanut butter waffle.

Sun King Yuen Curry Restaurant - Wanna drink some cooking oil?

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆

Lunch at Sun King Yuen Curry, Wanchai today after my doctor appointment. Sun King Yuen is famous for their signature Curry Pork Chop Rice and Stir Fried Beef Flat Noodles.

Lunch hours are mad crazy here at Sun King Yuen Curry. Since there is no system for dine in waiting or for take away orders, everyone just stands and blocks the front door in case the reception lady forgets them. To be totally honest, I truly admire the lady's strong memory although I hate how the system works in here. In the end, she did remember me and I got sit pretty soon.

Lab Made - Mid-Autumn Specials

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★★☆

A really late entry on Lab Mad's Mid Autumn's liquid nitrogen ice-cream flavour, just a recap on the nice HK Custard Bun flavoured that I have tried. I did not try the mooncake one as I already have had too many mooncakes.

HK Custard Bun (流沙奶黃包)

Xiao Tian Gu - Still A Great Dessert Choice

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★★☆

A random crave for dessert made us go to Xiao Tian Gu tonight. The dessert shop was quite packed, showing its popularity at Tai Hang.

Hokkaido Stewed Milk

This cute white porcelain cup holds Xiao Tian Gu's signature dish - Hokkaido Stewed Milk. The warm Hokkaido Stewed Milk was smooth with sweet Hokkaido milk taste.

Joy & Joy - Oh Heavenly Delish Molten Almond Bun!

Price: $$$
Cravingness: ★★★★☆

Joy & Joy Cantonese Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant with sophisticated ambiance, merging Chinese elements with Western elements altogether in style. There are several elegant and nostalgic private booths at the front door and a modern bar further within. Joy & Joy offers traditional Chinese dishes from all over China and brings the best from every region onto your table.

Tonight's dinner highlighted all the most popular dishes in Joy & Joy Cantonese Restaurant. Every dishes are explained in details on the preparations procedures and techniques, I appreciated the time and effort every staff put into the dishes. After tasting Joy & Joy's delicacies, I must admit I have been missing out for all this time.

Lung Fung Cafe - Meh...Microwaved food!?

Price: $
Cravingness: ★☆☆☆☆

Spam Sandwich with Scramble Egg and Caviar
Long has Lung Fung Cafe opened in Tai hang and knowing it is opened by a local comedian/ actor, I was never interested in dining there. I had heard some bad comments about the Cha Chaan Tan but I never listen unless I try it myself. Judging from the photos hanging from the windows outside the Cha Chaan Teng, even it was absolutely empty at 8.30pm on a Sunday night, we went in without concerned.

King Bakery - Egg Tart

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆

It was my colleague's last working day, so he got us some egg tart from King Bakery as a thank you gift. I felt sad about his leaving but was happy to have his egg tart :P. Since I just had Tai Cheong's egg tart a few days ago, the memory was still fresh so I can make a comparison.

Tai Cheong - Delish Egg Tart

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★★☆

We were walking along Johnston Road, Wanchai and smelled a drooling aroma from Tai Cheong Bakery Express. Although heading to dinner, we could not resist to get an egg tart to share.

On On BBQ - Canto Grill

Price: $$
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆

Grilled Oyster with Chocolate Sauce
I was invited to On On BBQ at Mong Kok to try out some Cantonese BBQ dishes along with some bloggers today. There are more and more Canto BBQ shops opened recently, An An BBQ stands out by creating their own marinate sauces and spices. What's most special about An An BBQ is how they think out of the box and pair interesting sauces with food, like today we tried Grilled Oyster with Chocolate! Want to know more? Keep reading!

Jimmy's Kitchen - BEST Chicken a La King in Town

Cravingness: ★★★★☆

Jimmy's Kitchen is my recent new fond located on Wyndham street that offers British Cuisine. Surprised as I was, I never knew about this place, I first thought it was a Chinese Restaurant just by its name. Yet they do offer Chinese dishes, especially this Chicken a La King is the best Chicken a La King in town!

Green Lounge - Lovely Brunch & Dessert

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆1/2

There are a few cafes in Sheung Wan who offer pastries and cakes for dessert, yet these cafes often close earlier. If you dine in the area at night and want something sweet afterwards, you can go to the Green Lounge. The Green Lounge, a cafe renowned for their yummy brunch and all-day breakfast, has recently launched a dessert menu for all the sweet tooth. The dessert menu is available from 3pm to 11.30pm throughout the weekend. More reason to indulge in desserts anytime anyday!

Duddell's - Celebrity Canto Diner

Price: $$$$
Cravingness: ★☆☆☆☆

Duddell's is a recently opened Cantonese restaurant that is meant to make a wow on Duddell's street. Duddell's combines fine Cantonese food and fine art in one setting. The two floors 8,000 square feet restaurant is spacious enough to accommodate different sizes of arts, I particularly admire the ones along the staircase, while the ones at the front doors (see photo below) were too artistic to me lol.

Tsui Wah - Great Hang Over Food

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★★☆

Tsui Wah as everyone knows it, is a local Cha Chaan Teng famous for many of its Cantonese dishes such as fish ball noodles, curry beef brisket and crispy condensed milk bun. I actually consider Tsui Wah to be partially international especially the one located at Wellington street, where it is almost a Must Go restaurant for traveler in Hong Kong. Sometimes I joke about Tsui Wah's success lies on this very branch.
