Zebratasty - Your New Sandwich & Salad Shop in Kowloon Bay

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★★☆

This might only interest the working group at Kowloon Bay as I am going to introduce a fine sandwich and salad delivery shop called Zebratasty in Kowloon Bay. Zebratasty is opened by two of my Uni friends. The passionate two are eager to become the best of its kind in the Kowloon Bay office area.

I am not recommending this shop because they are my friends, I am recommending it because the food tasted delicious. I dine at Pret all the time but I got bored to the never changing menu. The Grove next door is pricey given it's hideous portion, and it's not even fresh. I have tried almost everything on Zebratasty's menu, and I truly think they offers fresh delicious food at competitive price. Plus there is no minimum order amount for delivery!

Prêt à Manger - Welcome to Kowloon Bay, My Love!

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★★★

Long awaited my favourite sandwich shop Prêt à Manger finally opened in Kowloon Bay! Finally a place that truly offers fresh and delicious sandwiches, baguettes, wraps, cakes, hot soup, bakery items etc. I no longer have to suffer from the horrible food from the local sandwich shops or the mediocre salads at Groves. See me at lunch here at Prêt à Manger everyday! :D

Grove - Smoked Salmon Salad

I had Grove's Smoked Salmon Salad today as I need to pre-cleanse my body before I start my 3 day Cleanse Punch Detox programme.

The Smoked Salmon Salad is the second salad I tried from Grove Sandwiches. Differs from the Greek Salad, the mayonnaise dressing was pre-mixed in the box. There was loads of potatoes, sweet corn, apple, pineapple, cucumber, lettuce, two thick slices of smoked salmon and salmon roe on top. The smoked salmon was aromatic, meaty and savoury with strong salmon taste. The lemon wedge at the side added extra acidity to the salmon and also made it less oily to taste. The roe did not seem too fresh and got stick together.

King Bakery - Egg Tart

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆

It was my colleague's last working day, so he got us some egg tart from King Bakery as a thank you gift. I felt sad about his leaving but was happy to have his egg tart :P. Since I just had Tai Cheong's egg tart a few days ago, the memory was still fresh so I can make a comparison.

Coco Ichibanya - Sudden Curry Crave

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★★☆

Recently opened in Megabox, Coco Ichibanya finally brought some good news to the hungry working group in Kowloon Bay. As usual, I went after the lunch hour to skip the crazy queue, I ordered the Roasted Duck Curry and topped my favourite Cream Croquette as a side.

Pho Tai - New Pho in Kowloon Bay

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆

There are quite a few new restaurant excitements in Kowloon Bay recently. From Ippudo and Dondonya a few months ago, to Coco Curry Ichibanya and Pho Tai. Pho Tai in particular excited me the most, since I got seduced by their drooling aroma every morning I pass by their shop, plus I heard their pho is nice. It is literally not possible to dine at Pho Tai during lunch hour, so I went in after 2pm instead.

Pak Dong - "Authentic" Hainan Chicken

Price: $
Cravingness: ★☆☆☆☆

I went all the way to Amoy Plaza's Pak Dong Hainan Chicken as it claims to offer "authentic" Hainan Chicken. I checked the reviews which was quite positive and promising, yet you should never trust anyone's taste bud but yours.

Grove - Healthy Greek Salad

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆

Under many negative encouragements from my "dearest" friends on facebook regarding my status determining to lose weights, I bought myself today Grove's salad for lunch. Well to be completely honest, the reason behind was actually because I am having a big feast tonight. I reckon I probably should have salad to cut down the overall calories intake. :P

Mikichi - Not Bad Spicy Ramen

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆

Being flushed by all these ramen feeds and discussion, I could not withhold my indulgence and went to mikiichi for a spicy bowl of ramen for today's lunch.

Mikichi had a vast variety of ramen available - Hakata, Sapporo, Shoyu, Hakodate, Udon and Soba in both cold and hot broth. Given this wide range, I actually doubt if the quality would be good since most great ramen place that I have been specialised in specific kind of ramen they are great at. I know I should perhaps try their Hakata or Sapporo first, but I just crave for a bowl of spicy ramen right now.

Fu Yee Noodles - Amazing Beef Brisket!

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★★★

Fu Yee Noodles is one of my favourite lunch spot in Kownloon Bay. They offer the BEST beef brisket dishes nearby the area. Fu Yee Noodles are always packed during the afternoon, lines appears early and everyone craves for their beef brisket dishes.

Johnny Cafe - A Sandwich That Explains It All

Price: $
Crave Level: ☆☆☆☆☆

I used to wonder how could Dèlifrance priced their tuna egg mayonnaise sandwich that expensive (relatively) in Kowloon Bay, when there are sandwiches shops like Groves and local ones near by the area, but today, I have my answer.

As a matter of convenience, I went to Johnny Cafe for lunch to go after knowing they offer Tuna egg mayonnaise sandwich too. I was a bit worried at first but seeing they did grill the ciabatta warm. So I thought it couldn't be too bad?

Yat Yuet Sing - Comfort Food ♥

Price: $
Crave Level: ★★★☆☆1/2

New comfort food spot found near by my work area in Kowloon Bay! Actually it was quite far from my work place,so I have never heard of or been to the place. It is a small Chinese fast food shop in an alley in Ngau Tau Kok which could be easily missed if not paying attention.

Hakata Ippudo - New! Tokyo Seafood Tonkotsu

★★★★☆
$

I ordered the seasonal special, Tokyo Seafood Tonkotsu (東京魚介豬骨拉麵) which is priced at HKD$ 88. It is a tonkotsu based broth but added skipjack and scad fish into the broth to make an extremely savoury fish broth. The fish broth was amazing, with strong fish aroma and taste. The big and thick slice of BBQ pork was flavourable with a strong char taste! The yellow ramen was silky to slurp and chewy to taste! The soft boiled egg was also nicely done with a creamy yolk and bouncy white. It was slightly salted to give some taste.

Panash - Tasteless Croissant

☆☆☆☆☆
$

I seldom get breads at Panash, because many breads are too sweet for my liking. I went there recently after work for a quick snack before dinner because I was starving. After I picked a pain au chocolate, I found some croissant looking kind of alright and decided to get it for breakfast sometime. Even though the croissant is airy and light, it did not have any buttery taste. It was also not flaky enough. The croissant tasted so bad that I swear I would not buy it again.

Happy Lemon - WORST Tea Ever tasted

☆☆☆☆☆
$

Craving for a nice cup of milk tea with black jelly, I passed by Happy Lemon in Kowloon Bay during lunch and decided to grab a cup to go. I was elated to see Happy Lemon offers black jelly and taro balls as option because not many Taiwanese tea shops in Hong Kong have it.
