Speaking of the place to spend a romantic night with the one you love, Stanley is definitely a good choice. Walking along the Stanley Main Street, we were behold by Pickled Pelican. Arguing whether it is a US Pub or a British pub restaurant, we decided to dine in there to find out. (Reading the menu it says British Pub, Scored:D ). The Pickled Pelican is actually pretty British gastropub like. The inner bar restaurant were nicely furnished and were constructed with light woods. We picked our seat in the outdoor area where dim lighting are cast on and where we could still overlook the sea.

French Onion Soup

If you have never tried French Onion Soup before, Pickled Pelican offers great French Onion Soup and you would definitely love it. It was my first time having French Onion Soup, but up till now I have tasted it several times and I could still vividly recall how fantastic Pickled Pelican's was. French Onion soup is not any kind of ordinary soup. It is an onion and beef broth based soup served with croutons and melting cheese on top. Give the soup a strong deep snift, you could literally feel the melting cheese and the onion soup in your mouth.

The Beautiful brown coloured Soup is very richly flavored, a strong onion taste with the right amount of sweetness due to the caramelized onions where they were cooked slowly for hours until the sugars melt and turning brown. The croutons, although soaking inside the soup, are still crusty. Biting the croutons gives you a heavenly taste as they have absorbed the rich onion soup with them. I still cannot found another restaurant that serves better french onion soup than Pickled Pelican.

Jumbo Onion Rings

By Jumbo I mean Gigantic! They are almost your head size! The dishes served 5 nicely fried deep brown jumbo onion rings with an onion sauce along the dish. The rings are yum and crispy. As I am not a big fan of onion ring sauce, I personally prefer dipping the rings into a Tabasco sauce added Ketchup, which add on some spiciness ♥.

Carbonara Mushroom

Pickled Pelican's Carbonara Mushroom is a plate of fettucini served with Carbonara sauce, bacon pieces and mushrooms as toppings. Cheese and chives are drizzled onto the plate to add colours. The creamy carbonara is thick and rich in flavors, fettucini is nicely done and taste great with bacon and mushrooms. A pretty nice and yummy dish indeed.

Pickled Pelican in Stanley serves nice food and excellent atmosphere. Although marketed as a gastropub, the environment is suitable for couples to dine in, chitchat and enjoy some darling moments. A tiny regret is the food portion is somehow pretty big that I could not have any rooms for dessert after the yummy meal. Still the desserts look really nice and I would definitely have some when I returned.
