Cafe O, Central

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★☆☆

Cafe O is a modern international cafe and restaurant in Hong Kong offering a wide range of bakery, sandwiches, pastas, pizza and beverages. Cafe O opened its first flagship store in 2004 at Arbuthnot Road, Central, and is still mainly located at the western region of Hong Kong Island. Distinguishing itself from its surrounding fast food style cafes, Cafe O serves hot food such as egg Benedict's, pasta and pizza.

I received a Cafe O card earlier. It works like any cash topup card BUT also offers a 10% off on everything on Cafe O's menu! Such a great deal, isn't it?

I went to the Cafe O at Queens Road Central, it is closer to Sheung Wan in my opinion. It is very easy to spot Cafe O from its brightly contrasted Red and White furnishing. I went to this Cafe O because it is a 2 floored cafe and I knew it would be very spacious.

There is cucumber water available at the self service area on the second floor.

There are lots of daily sets available, you can check the little bill board above the display cooler, or just ask the server for help.

Once you have placed your order, a number plate will be given to you, and you just need to sit and wait for your food to arrive.

Chicken BLAT Panini + Soup Set - HKD58
For the panini set, three types of bread are available for choice - baguette, whole wheat sandwich and Focaccia.

I chose Focaccia to go with my grilled chicken. The sandwich was toasty and flavourful with grilled chicken, romaine lettuce, tomato, avocado, bacon, sundries tomato aioli. The salad was fresh and crisp with Vinegrette dressing. The snack strip at the side tasted rather funny, I have no idea what that is.

Pumpkin & Ginger Soup

The pumpkin soup was delicious! It was very rich, creamy and mushy, most importantly it was real gingery! The focaccia bread was served cold and hence rather stiff in texture and lacking the lovely herby oil on top.

Arrabiata Pasta Set + Juice Blend - HKD62+HKD34

My Arrabiata linguini arrived with a lovely aroma permeating the air. However even without tasting the linguini, I can already sense the linguini was over cooked from it's swollen size. The sauce, herby with a mild spiciness, was delicious and addicting but a bit too saucy.

Green Envy

I feel like a green juice, so I ordered the Green Envy which is a blend of spinach, kale, green apple, parsley, Lemon and cucumber. This was indeed a very green juice with green froth on top. It was surprisingly delicious, fruity from the apple and a slight sourness from the lemon.

I would say Cafe O is definitely a better choice than the chain Cafés in Hong Kong. The food choice are much better and the environment is more relaxing. It is not the place I would bring my book but definitely for a lunch bite and to work outside the office.
