I had been longing to dine in Wing's Catering for long, and finally I had my chance tonight. Wing's Catering was just right next to Mackie Kitchen on Caroline Hill Road, which I was excited to find out upon my last visit to Mackie Kitchen.
There wasn't much people dinning on a Monday evening, lots of tables were vacant. The waiters were having their dinner at the customer's table (isn't most staffs usually eat in the kitchen?) and the waiter gave me a weird look when I entered the restaurant. The elder waitress was very friendly and eagerly introduced their dinner sets to us, so we took that without much thoughts.
1) Grilled Chicken Rice Bowl with Fried Octopus and Lotus Cake.
It took quite a while before my bowl was ready which proved their grilled chicken was made to order. The Grilled Chicken was nice but not particularly special, it tasted no difference from the chicken we had in BBQ. The meat was very tender and sweet in taste. The skin was grilled unevenly which gave a crispy skin at one end but soggy and oily at the other.
The Octopus and Lotus Cake was scrumptious! It was deep fried but not oily at all. The amount of octopus and lotus were quite generous, a piece of lotus at every bite is guaranteed.
Overall, the bowl was just average. The only thing that I disliked about the bowl was their soy sauce. It tasted kinda weird and different from the usual soy sauce I had in Cha Chaan Teng.
