Qing Hai - The BEST Duck Noodles in HK

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★★★

Qing Hai Xiao Guan (澄海小館), a Chiu Chow restaurant located in Ap Lei Chau, is totally a hidden gem and is my new Chiu Chow favourite restaurant. I just found out I have never been to Ap Lei Chau for my entire life, not to mention finding this restaurant over there!

Soy Sauce Marinated Duck Noodle Bowl 鹵水鴨粉

This is perhaps the best duck noodle bowl I have ever had in my life! Every bite of the duck was droolingly awesome. The duck skin was flavourful and smooth with melting fats attached to it, the duck meat was juicy and tender! The clear broth was savoury, a bit oily but aromatic. I almost finish every single drip of the broth. I wonder if they use duck bone as the base, since the broth flavour was intense.

If you hates board noodles (Hor Fun) because it has always been made soft in Cha Chan Tang, you would want to try the ones at Qing Hai! The board noodles at Qing Hai is VERY different from the typical ones, they are much thicker in here and hence the texture is more chewy. The portion of the noodles was generous, ask for less if you are a small eater!

I also added on top some Soy Sauce Marinated Pork Ears, they were very nice and chewy. One of the best I have had.

Stir fried Water Morning Glory with Preserved Bean Curd

Chinese always love some veggie for health reason (or to make ourselves feel less guilty). This water mornign glory was not very good, it was a bit old. The sauce was too weak in taste, it was water down.

Almost forgot to mention the addicting spicy sauce! It had a powerful spicy taste but could not make you cough. It is a delicious compliment to any of the marinated food here.

Qing Hai is delicious enough to make me go to Ap Lei Chau just for a bowl of noodle. Remember to come here when you are near by.
