I have never tried any detox programme in my life, I was originally quite skeptical about the real effects of these detox programme. Recently I have seen many of my friends started some juice detoxing and got me interested. Being a foodie myself, eating out and snacking alot had made me put up quite a lot of weight in the past year, not to mention many are unhealthy food! My friend introduced me Punch Detox and said she felt much more energised and lost a bit of weight with Punch Detox. Telling me how amazing she felt urges me to determine to start my own little detox try out as well.
"Think of it as an exfoliating scrub and a rejuvenating mask, only it’s for your insides."I love this tagline from Punch, the analogy is well played. The behind philosophy of Punch is to help detoxing, where toxin exist in food, water and even the air we breathe in. Our bodies has a natural way of detoxing themselves. but our hectic lifestyles, fast food culture and bad habits have made our mind and body tense and stressed. And hence here comes the Punch Detox.
Day 0 Pre-Cleanse
Before starting my 3 day Cleanse Programme, my friend told me I should pre-cleanse a day before starting the cleanse to achieve the optimal effect.
Obviously it makes sense so I kicked off by having as light and easy as possible. I had a strawberry milkshake for breakfast, a smoked salmon fruit salad from Groves for Lunch, but for dinner, I went a moon cake tasting event hosted by Openrice but I only tried minimal. In between the day I went to gym for an hour as usual.
Each Day's Punch Juices were delivered in a separate cooler bag with 6 bottles of juices and some ice-packs inside. The packaging makes it easy to carry the juices out if needed. Since all juices are freshly made, they need to be put in the refrigerator immediately when you got them. Check how mine is fully loaded with Punch Juices!
Day 1 Cleanse
Feeling Good & Energised
Feeling Good & Energised
So 3 days, no food, gluten-free, diary-free, totally vegan! I weighted myself this morning for record and hopefully there will be some weight lost at the end. I could not find any measuring tape, so any inch lost could only be an estimate/ personal feeling.
Punch Detox recommends everyone to try a 3 day Cleanse programme, where all you have to do is to replace all your meals with six 16oz fresh juice daily. Since I exercise regularly, Punch Detox personalised my programme by mixing both Level 1 and Level 2 Cleanse Juices for me. Below listed all the juices I had for the programme and I will talk about the taste of each at the end with day 3's update.
1 - Citrus Punch (Level 1&2)
2 - Green Punch (Level 1&2)
3 - Red Punch (Level 1&2)
4 - Fruit Punch (Leverl 1), Salad Punch (Level 2)
5 - GazPUNCHo (Level 1&2)
6 - Nut Punch (Level 1), Coco Punch (Level 2)
All four juices I had during the day were in pure liquid form, I was surprised the juices did actually fill my stomach. I had my juices starting from 8am and every other two to three hours I had the next one. The dinner juice (GazPUNCHo) and after dinner snack juices (Nut Punch) were the most filling ones. I also went to gym for more than an hour at lunch after my second juice (Green Punch) and before my third juice (Red Punch) with enough energy to go through the process.
About effects it brought to my body, I had slight diarrhoea on the first day of Punch Detox, which I took as a detoxing sign. Due to the amount of liquid I took in, there was more washroom breaks during the day. I felt sleepy and tired at 10ish at night and went to bed much earlier than my normal bed hour at around 1am. Other than those, I was happily energerized throughout the day and not feeling hungry at all.
DAY 2 Cleanse
Early Beauty Sleep
Day 2 was pretty much the same as day 1 except the tiredness kicked in much earlier at 8pm. I had enough energy to go through the day without feeling hungry. I did not crave for solid food, I had different juices combination today to keep me happy. The bowel movement was not too good today but there was still a lot of washroom break since I drank lots of water. The overall feelings I had today was feeling thirsty all the time and lack of energy at night. I started my beauty sleep early at 10pm tonight.
DAY 3 Cleanse
Starting to Crave for Solid Food
Day 3 gave me a positive encouragement as I lost 3lbs in the previous 2 days! Yippeeeee :) However passing through Day 3 was much harder than the previous two days as my hunger hits in much earlier. I finished my 4th drink at 4pm where I finished the same drink at 5pm on the first 2 days. I did not like the 5th dinner drink, the cold tomato soup too much, so I started craving for solid food at night.
My Thoughts After the Punch Cleanse
Most of the juices are pretty yummy and filling even in their liquid form. I have enough energy to go through the day without feeling hungry. There was no food coma during the day so I was kept energised and worked very efficiently. I felt more thirsty than normal and drank more water to keep myself hydrated. I lost weight (Yay!) with a flatter tummy. I did crave for solid food at the end of day 3. It was pretty hard for me to strive through the whole process as I have to stay anti-social and stayed at home for 3 days with my evils friends luring me for fancy dinner gatherings. All in all, the detox was quite nice. I did feel more refreshed with a more sensitive palate after the detox, makes me treasure and savour the food I eat more.
Introducing The Punch Juices
1 - Citrus Punch (Level 1&2)
A blend of lemon, ginger, cayenne pepper, agave nectar and filtered water, the Citrus Punch is powerful, spicy and a refreshing drink to wake me up in the morning. The Agave Nectar taste is strong, sweet and lingering, the lemon taste is sharp and quite sour.
A blend of celery, cucumber, kale, bitter melon, parsley, spirulina and green apple, the Green Punch is the sweet morning snack with a hint of bitterness from the bitter melon. The cucumber and celery taste first hit you, second comes the sweet green apple taste and finally ends with the bitterness from the bitter melon.
3 - Red Punch (Level 1&2)
A blend of beet, carrot, ginger, orange, Goji berry and red apple, the Red Punch is a yummy lunch juice with powerful beet taste with carrot sweetness and spicy finishes.
4 - Fruit Punch (Level 1)
A blend of pineapple, lime, watermelon and Acai berry, the Fruit Punch is a delicious and sweet afternoon juice with watermelon pulps. Just like drinking freshly squeezed watermelon juice (but paying fortune for it lol)!
4 - Salad Punch (Level 2)
A blend of romaine, spinach, choi sum, pear, cucumber and green radish, the Salad Punch feels like the healthiest and most essential punch of all. It is lightly cucumber flavoured juice with refreshing vegetable taste. It is actually pretty yummy.
5 - GazPUNCHo (Level 1&2)
A blend of tomato, cucumber, cilantro, garlic, sea salt, cider vinegar, olive oil and Cayenne pepper, The GazPuncho is an extremely filling juice but was my least favourite. It is the only thick texture drink with chunks of tomato and cucumber. The GazPUNCHo is like cold tomato soup, it has an intense tomato taste and tasted very sour from the vinegar and sea salt. I do not enjoy drinking this.
6 - Nut Punch (Level 1)
A blend of raw cashew, raw almond, cinnamon, agave nectar and filtered water, the Nut Punch is my favourite juice of all. It tastes like Chinese almond sweet soup with a fresh cashew and cinnamon touch and is only mildly sweet.
6. Coco Punch (Level 2)
A blend of coconut water and acai berry, the Coco Punch tastes no different from the coconut water from a fresh coconut (again paying a fortune for it).
