I have tried making cupcakes twice, but somehow I could not create as nice a topping or as nice the taste as cupcakes professionals did. So inevitably I would visit these cupcakes stores from time to time, attracted by its look, attracted by its taste.
Cake-A-Licious was one decent cake shop I found on those coupon sites. Cake-A-Licious was furnished with colourful, contrasted and fun colours, mostly in purple, pink and blue. I particularly love their huge restaurant logo on top of their stairs which looked kinda cute and cool. The very first thing you saw when u stepped in the store was the cupcakes window display, so I didn't really pay attention to other bits of the decor, not after I made my order.
The store was quite small, I can foresee how packed it could get when all the seats are filled up. The kitchen was an open kitchen which u could check what the chefs are making. There were also boxes of custom made cakes stacked on the left side of the shop, many were beautiful cakes like Barbie cake or red hot Lamborghini cake!!!! There was a series of cake categories that they made on the side. There were Kids, Animal, Anniversarys, then there was one says ADULTS! I immediately picked it up and flipped through the pages, but sadly it was just some normal boring cakes for all adults, actually all age range.
I was full to the max after lunch, so I decided to order take away. Take away was a nice good choice since it came with a pretty purple box with a fancy ribbon which was meticulously done by the friendly restaurant lady.
Chocolate was no doubt cupcakes in Chocolate brown cake with chocolate icing on top. The brown cake was not as sweet as typical cupcake, which is good. It was on the other hand much spongy-er and much softer too. The icing tasted like dark chocolate with its approximate sweetness but without the bitter part. Overall its taste reminded me of Sara Lee's sponge cake.
The vanilla icing taste was strong and delicious. The rainbow sprinkles on top beautify the cup cakes as well as making it extra edgy tasted. The vanilla taste just simply went very well with the butter cake. The butter cake underneath the beautiful sprinkles was amazingly good as well. I thought this would be a boring cup but it turned out to be my favourite cupcakes from all the flavours.
Isn't normal to think banana goes well with everything? Oh well, Cake-A-Licious definitely proved me wrong. It's not that the taste won't match, its just not tasty that's all. The cake had the same chocolate cake as base as of the Chocolate Delight, so the banana taste only exist in the icing. The banana taste was very artificial since there wasn't even a single bits of banana in it.
This was the very cupcakes that caught my attention among all the other ones. (Despite those Elmo or animal looking ones.) The pearl white icing topped with hundreds and thousands and the little cut of yellow lemon on top was simply too cute and beautiful. There was lemon bits in the cake but the strong butter taste covered the lemon taste. Yet there was also lemon taste in the icing, so the lemon taste would not be killed.
There were also some cute animal faced cupcakes as well as other normal flavours such as hazel huts and cookies and cream. The cupcakes was by far the best that I have tasted (although I didn't really try much), and I highly recommended it.
