Date back to mid July, my friends brought me to this Cha Chaan Teng before heading to horse racing. I was kind of surprise they will dine before horse racing, which they usually wouldn't. Anyway, I was late after work so they asked me to them in Cheung Fak which located behind Times Square.
Getting my way to Yiu Wah Street, I was confused about the location of the Cha Chaan Teng. I called my friend to pick me up. I was surprised when he brought me in front of a FULLY closed gate, and squeezed himself through a tiny door in the middle of gate, and there I went into the Cheung Fak. Later I knew, they closed at 830pm, so I probably was the couple last customers of the night.
The menu was horrible long and the words were so packed that it was quite difficult to chose what to order. My friend suggested a set which had noodles and everything with it.
When comparing the price and the food quality, I personally reckon Cheung Fak Cha Chaan Teng is a very good choice, The price was at good bargin, the food quality is mostly in average, with some really nice dishes like the Chicken Leg with Swiss Sauce. The service was quite nice too, the waiters were all quite chatty and they would always offer help or provide food suggestions if needed.

Chicken Leg in Swiss Sauce
Given the price of the set, I was amazed by the size of the chicken leg. The chicken leg was quite large and fat, fat in the sense that it was thick but not with real fats. The meat was in fact lean and tender. The skin layer was thin without a layer of yellowish fats and was fully concentrated with the sweet swiss sauce. The swiss sauce was not thick but the flavour was strong. This chicken leg in swiss sauce is highly commendable.
Preserved Szechuan Vegetable & Beef Rice Noodles
Preserved Szechuan Vegetable is one of my favourite as it brings up my appetite all the time. This dish was somewhat average, nothing really special about it. The only thing worth mentioning was that the noodles came first out of all the things I ordered, pretty awesome deliverying speed indeed. A dislike was that the rice noodles itself were under-cooked, so I had to wait until the noodles was soaked softer.
Fruit Waffle
There were many other options to chose other than the waffles, thus making me indifference about the choice. The waiter came over and highly recommend the fruit waffle and started to boast about how nice their waffle was. The waffle turned out to be pretty nice when served hot with the chocolate sauce topping. However I wouldn't say it is special and I was a bit disappointed that their so-called 'fruit' waffle was actually morsel of canned fruits at the side of the dish.
Horlicks
I like how Cha Chaan Teng serves hot drinks in steel cup, it helps to keep the drink hot and could warm your cold hands especially in winter. I don't like sweet drinks, so I never add sugar in any of my beverages. For the same reason, it is quite easy for me to discover whether a restaurant would provide the right amount of power to prepare the drink or not, as some restaurants tend to use sugar instead to give the flavour. Cheung Fak's Horlicks was tasty with a strong malt taste. When comparing the price and the food quality, I personally reckon Cheung Fak Cha Chaan Teng is a very good choice, The price was at good bargin, the food quality is mostly in average, with some really nice dishes like the Chicken Leg with Swiss Sauce.
