Cravingness: ★★★★☆
Looking for a nice brunch place for the weekend? Here I recommend Casa Lisboa, a restaurant located at LKF Tower offering authentic Portugese Cuisine. Casa Lisboa newly launched a weekend brunch, which is similarly to the lunch menu that they offer during the weekday. With an attractive price of HKD180 for a 3 courses brunch or HKD250 for a 4 courses brunch, you can pick any of your courses from the al larte carte menu! What's more you can opt for free flow of Sangria, Vinho Verde & Sparkling wine for an additional HKD100! This is probably the best value brunch I have ever seen!
I was invited along with several bloggers today to savour Casa Lisboa's brunch today. Highly recommended their signature Dried Codfish Cakes, Juicy Duck Rice and Succulent Suckling Pig here!
Bread Basket
The bread basket was served along with homemade herb butter, Portuguese cheese and Sardine paste. The house bread was served warm and soft. The homemade herb butter was extremely delicious! I smeared a lot on my bread. The Portuguese cheese was a bit bland in flavour, while the sardine paste was quite savoury.
Stuffed Crab
Dining at a Portuguese restaurant, ordering Bacalhau is basically a must. Since my friends ordered the Bacalhau, I ordered Stuffed Crab in Poruguese Style instead. The golden yellow stuffed crab was beautifully plated with a salad served at the side. The stuffed crab was baked crispy at the top with lots of creamy crab lumps inside. The stuffed crab is an excellent appetiser but is quite filling.
Fried Codfish Cakes
The Bacalhau is very different from the ones that I had in Macau, which some of us felt a bit disappointed. The Bacalhau was fried golden brown crispy on the outside but the inner was very dry in texture. There was loads of codfish but we think they should add more potato to the Bacalhau to make it creamier.
Sautéed Clam with Garlic, Lemon and Coriander
This sautéed clam was C's appetiser. Served in generous portion, the sautéed clam was very savoury with creamy and garlicky sauce. Another delicious appetiser I love here.
Octopus Salad with Lime Oil
This octopus salad with lime oil was scrumptious! The octopus were very young and fatty with good chewiness. The lime oil dressing was flavourable but was quite oily and tasted a bit too heavy on the palate.
Duck Rice Old Style
Duck Rice is my favourite Portuguese dish and I could not dine at a restaurant without it. The Duck Rice at Casa Lisboa was extremely aromatic, which made me drool just by smelling and staring at it. The Duck Rice had an extremely crispy brown crust and a moist inner. Each rice grand was filled with strong duck and bacon taste which was heavenly tasty. The shredded duck meats spread across the rice was juicy and added on extra texture to the dish. A very scrumptious dish but I have to say I still prefer Escada's Baked Duck Rice at Macau more.
Roasted Suckling Pig Bairrada Style
The roasted suckling pig was P's main where he shared (slashed I begged) part of his roasted suckling pig for my tasting. The roasted suckling pig was excellently executed with a crispy golden brown skin, a layer of mouth melting fats and succulent meats. It tasted a bit leaner than the roasted suckling pig I had at Fernando, Macau, but other attributes were kept in pretty high standard.
Serradura (Sweetened Biscuit with Egg & Cream)
Serradura is again another must order item at any Portuguese restaurant. Casa Lisboa's Serradura was different from the others I had in Macau, their serradua was not as creamy and had less biscuit taste.
Traditional Portuguese Chocolate Cake
The traditional Portuguese chocolate cake did not taste as chocolatey as it looked. The texture was like a mousse-like sponge cake, something between moist and creamy. The vanilla ice-cream at the side with biscuit crumbs tasted much better.
Wine Selection
Simply by looking at Casa Lisboa's wall, you can see their vast range of wine selection. Today we savour Sangria, Vinho Verde and Burmester Vintage Port Wine. The Sangria was quite weak in flavour and is an easy drink for everyone. The Vinho Verde, a Portuguese green wine we tried today is from Gazelais. It looked pretty much like any white wine and tasted very fruity. The Port wine was something that I had not tried before! It was extremely strong but sweet at the same time with a smooth and thick body. Almost everyone on the table were put off by the strong alcohol content, but P and I both love the taste and aroma alot!
To conclude, Casa Lisboa does offer amazing brunch deal. Even if you opt for the 4 courses brunch, your total bill will still be under HKD300! Where else can you get such great bargain, not to mention they offer delicious Portuguese food!
