The Prestigious Piper Heidsieck Champagne

Champagne! Everyone loves champagne. Champagne is great to celebrate especial occasions or to simply make yourself happy. This particular brand I am introducing today is also a fond of the sexiest woman at all times - Marilyn Monroe. When asked in 1953 what she wore to sleep, Marilyn Monroe cooed, “Five drops of Chanel No. 5,” before adding, “But I start each day with a glass of Piper-Heidsieck because it warms my body.” If you have not ever tried Piper-Heidsieck, you are totally missing out. But no worries my reader, Food Craver is collaborating with Piper-Heidsieck and is offering a special discount code for all of you to feel the Monroe spirit. Read until the end to get your deal! =)

I was invited by Telford to savour the prestigious Piper-Heidsieck Champagne at hotel Indigo. Four Piper-Heidsieck champagnes were available for tasting - Rosé, Brut, Sublime and Rare.

The colours and designs of Piper-Heidsieck bottles are distinctive and cheerful. Colours of pink, red and burgundy are all nice complimentary colour to gold. My eyes went sparkling just by looking at the bottles of Piper-Heidsieck champagne sitting at the icy buffet counter.

Cheese, cold cuts and foie gras terrine were served as pairing. The Emmental cheese and Brie were nice! The foie gras terrine was clean out in a sec! I should have get more!

The Piper-Heidsieck ice bucket holds a sleek design in golden colour with red highlights, an extravagance look for the prestige champagne. I heard this is the "Day Version" of the ice bucket, there is also a "Night Version" where the outlook is exactly the same but the gold/red colour reverse.

Piper-Heidsieck Rosé Savage N.V. - HKD500/75cl

You know, I used to dislike Rose but after my last experience of Louis Roederer Cristal Rose 2004 (Link for my reivew on Le Dôme de Cristal) and this (okay a few) glass of Piper-Heidsieck Rosé Savage N.V., I am starting to like Rosé.

Piper-Heidsieck Rosé Savage N.V, composed of 45% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Meunier, had a passionate flamboyant colour. The Rosé was delicate with slow effervescence, it was smooth and has  a rich and fruity note of black currant with smoothing finishes.

Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Brut N.V.
HKD$350/75cl, HKD$900/1.5L, HKD$1800/3L

Piper-Heidsieck champagne tends to be more toasty and this character was first shown in my first sip of the creamy golden  coloured Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Brut N.V.. This brut is composed of 55% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Meunier. A full bodied champagne with a lovely pear fragrant and a strong citrus note indeed. The effervescence was strongest among all of the four I tried today, but the bubble size was kept small. The brut was a nice refreshing start for the evening.

Piper-Heidsieck Rare 2002 - HKD$1680/75cl

Next is the very much anticipated Piper-Heidsieck Rare 2002! Framed in black wooden box with the word "Rare" engraved in italic form, together with the beautifully crafted gold ring crowned the body, this bottle steals everyone's attention on the night.

With a dazzling vintage golden colour, the Piper-Heidsieck Rare 2002 was a delicate glass composed of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. The rare was smooth and mellow with shimmering effervescence. A toasty glass with a nice balance of fruitiness and acidity with lovely hazelnut and pineapple note swirling on your palate.

The golden decorative ring on the Rare 2002 can be removed (with some effort), and is rumoured to be used as a crown for birthday girls at clubs in Japan.

Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Sublime Demi - Sec N.V. - HKD$480/75cl

If you are looking for something sweet, Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Sublime is your choice. The Sublime is a demi-sec champagne with between 32 and 50 grams per liter of residual sugar, hence it is made to be sweet. The sublime is composed of 55% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay, & 30% Pinot Meunier.

Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Sublime had an antique bronze gold appearance. The bubbles was slow and refine. A very fruity  attack followed by a smoothing vanilla note and a toasty finishes.

I enjoyed very much Piper-Heidsieck champagne especially the Rose and the Rare. All piper-Heidsieck champagnes are priced resonably, and more importantly they taste decent. A truly legit champagne brand that I am definitely recommend to all of you!
