Pret A Manger | Nice Hot British Tortilla Wraps

Price: $
Cravingess: ★★★☆☆1/2

Since today is Mid-Autumn Festival, we could get off work earlier. Yet, it is pretty hard for my industry to leave on time. In order for me to leave earlier, I decided to grab a quick lunch instead going to celebration dim sum lunch with my other colleagues. (Anti-social? Hopefully not.)

I went down to Pret A Manger and instantly I found myself standing in front of the hot wraps corner, was trying to find something hot than cold. These days, hot stuffs are more comforting than cold stuffs although the weather is still hot as hell. In the hot wraps rack, there were in total 4 different variety of wraps. A Pizza wrap, A Beef Burrio and 2 kinds of chicken wraps. When I grabbed my Beef Burrio from the rack, I was rather surprised that the wrap was real hot. My eyes uncontrollably gave the fridge a quick check and found a temperature window showing some kind of temperature which I forget. Anyway, I was impressed. The wraps were $36, given the location and the hotness, I accepted it naturally. Just when I went to the counter to check out, I found lots of bagels, filling with colourful veggies , harms and tomato selling at a price of $16. GG, I know where to grab lunch next week, or possibly this coming Friday.

The hot wrap was nicely wrapped in a hard paper wrapper. I enjoyed the unwrapping process very much, this might be one of the reason that I love sandwiches so much. However, I found it hard to re-wrap my wraps using the given paper wrapper as the paper was too hard/rigid to fold. Moreover, the wraps was too soft, so it kinda swung back and forth for a bit before I could man to hold it firmly. Sometimes too good a quality might not be a good thing, I highly recommend them to carry out several experiment before deciding which wrapper to use.

The bread wrap was in a nice colour, slightly yellow with bits of toasted parts. It was toasted at both the top and the bottom side, giving a slightly crispy texture but keeping the inner bread layers soft.

The filling of the wraps was unexpectedly plenty in quantity. Every bit was a mouthfull of fillings, sometimes in between I was wary of dropping some fillings onto my work desk. There were chilli beef, basmati rice, yogurt which made the wraps very savory and moreish, peppers and several bits of Mexican beans filling across in the wrap. What I love most about the wraps was that it was quite spicy, in a moreish way, which I could not stop myself from eating bites after bites.

Never thought Pret A Manger's hot wrap could be that nice, I could foresee my next purchase real soon.
