These days I was all about group buy, which ended up with lots of coupons that I have to spend within limited time and an astronomical figure displayed on my credit card statement. My Dublin Jack coupon is a $150 paid, $300 worth coupon and it is going to expire tomorrow, so I have to use it tonight.
Dublin Jack was at a rather convenient location to me, in the heart of LKF. we made a reservation at 7.30 pm tonight, and the pub restaurant were not even 30% full when we arrived. No matter so many pubs are closing down in LKF these days, and the strugglers are fighting for customers with cheaper and cheaper happy hours or another marketing strategies such as this group buy coupon. The environment in Dublin Jack was quite decent. The pub restaurant was pretty spacious, the interior was nicely furnished to give an chill atmosphere. We were assigned to a 4 people cabin seats and there were racks above the cabin to put bags or coats up, very thoughtful.

Cottage Pie |
Reading the menu, I realised the main dishes were priced around $100-$130, which a $300 worth coupon means you have to add a snack on with your two main dishes. There were only two of us, but we decided to order more than less. People like us just love to stuff ourselves with nice foods.
Complimentary Bread Basket
The bread baskets were in enormous size since there were only two of us dinning. There were french toast, sesame bun and some more unknown but nice buns and toast! All breads were served hot. I particularly love the sesame bun, it was very soft and had a great sesame taste with it. The butter was a salted and spreadable one, which could be applied to those nice buns/toasts easily.
House Fries with Cheese Dips - $68
The House Fries were simply A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. The fries were big, flat and thick, which I personally prefer when compared to american thin fries. The fries were not fried till golden so the coating was not crazily crispy, but was at a suitable crispiness. In the middle of the House Fries, you could find this irresistibly appetizing cheese dips, which is killingly fat but also heavenly delicious. The cheese dips were melted up, but not watery, thick enough for the fries to dip on. The dips had a strong cheese flavour and was a bit spicy. What's more, the dish came in with a mouth-watery aroma.
Dublin Coddle - $118
From the description, Dublin Coddle is a dish with Irish Sausages, potatoes, bacons and braised onions, layered in a heavy pot and cooked slowly. This dish smelled very nice when it came to our table, but it's look did not align with what I expect it would be. My first tablespoon sip of the soup was surprising nice. The flavour was light but was made savoury by the bacons, and was at the same time slightly sweet with the braised onions. The potatoes and onions were cooked until soft but not mushy and could still possessed their own very distinct taste. The Irish Potato on the other hand, was not something that I appreciate. It was not that it was not good, but I was not adapted to the taste of any European Sausage. I am kind of a Hot Dog person. Anyhow, I would say the Irish Sausages wasn't bad. It was very savoury, which went with the light broth well. The sausages was cooked soft and had a volume mouth feel. Not bad a dish.
Traditional Cottage Pie - $108
The dish was my favourite of the night. It was not the traditional cottage pie that I had before, as they did not have a pastry covered or wrapped around the fillings. Instead of a pastry, Dublin Jacks had the fillings covered with cheddar cheese. The heavy amount of cheese was indulging. The dish came in sizzling hot which raised my excitement level. The mashed potato was creamy, smooth, silky and savoury. It had a strong beef taste as well as cheese taste. It was like having Lasagna but with a much better mouth feel.
When we had our bill, the total was $308, which we only had to pay $8 in addition. The restaurant did not include any service charge, which I personally reckon they deserve at least a 10% service charge, and I see no problem in giving them the tips. For the foods that Dublin Jack offers, I generally reckon its pretty good. Especially the House Fries and the Traditional Cottage Pie, which are the must try dishes if you plan to visit here someday. The pub restaurant were pretty spacious, so it should be nice to have a big group of friends dining here or just a romantic night with your lover.
