The Pawn - Failed me once again

Price: $$$
Cravingness: ★★☆☆☆

For those who does not know yet, there is a 40% off al la carte menu at the Pawn every Tuesday with any American Express credit card. You can also enjoy 20% off in any other nights! Many restaurants under the Press Room Group are offering this special, The Pawn is one of them. Make sure you take full advantage of this offer, which ends on August 31st, 2013.

I have been to The Pawn once and to be honest was not impressed at all. Today I went again with my friend since she had not been before. Bread was served soon after we ordered food but it was served cold. The tomato butter was really yummy, especially with a little salt added to it.

Boston Mussels with Bacon, Mustard Seeds, Thyme, Shallots & Garlic

The mussels was quite nice and in good portion for starters. The cream sauce is a bit too sour for my liking but the overall taste was good due to the presence of bacon.

Celeriac & Granny Apple Soup with Walnut Cream

I was quite disappointed with this soup. My first encountered with celeriac soup was in AVA and that was amazing. Judging from the description of the soup, I was expecting something delicate and very refreshing. The soup tasted like apple crumble sauce with melted vanilla ice-cream in it. Ya, can imagine that right?

Roasted Berkshire Pork Belly with Caramelised Granny Smith

This is a roast dish to share between two. I had the most amazing pork belly dish in Mezza Grille USA, second by 22 Ships. The pork belly had an acceptable crunchy skin but the meat texture was quite rough and the fat did not melt in your mouth. The meat sauce was quite bad and I don't like it with my pork belly. The roasted potatoes had no flavours to them, I have to add in salt myself. The most hideous food on this wooden board was the Yorkshire pudding, it was a complete joke. I thought it was a baked tomato under the dim lighting at the Pawn. The Yorkshire Pudding was made like an overly dense cake. Meh!

Sticky Toffee Pudding

This was actually the best dish of the night! The sticky toffee pudding was moist and flavourful. The sourly tasted ice-cream paired well with the sweet pudding. Love this alot!

The dinner was actually quite pricey and I don't think the food worths the price given the taste. Even the drinks are very pricey here so either you go for Happy Hour here or just forget this place.
