If you have followed my instagram, you might have noticed I uploaded a photo of me holding a pretty gigantic (in relative terms) chocolate ball on a spoon. For those who have not yet followed my ig, here is what I have uploaded. (My instagram ID: foodcraverhk)
So what was this about? A while ago, there was a huge hype on a trick/magic on the koala bear biscuits which basically everyone was talking about it (or at least knew about it). The rule is simple:-
1) Get a box of Koala biscuit, keep it as it is in its original box
2) Shake it vigorously for 30 minutes"
Result: A perfectly rounded chocolate ball (as below picture!)
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. My friend and I were both curious about this crazy idea and would like to try it out.
Step 1 - We bought 2 boxes of different flavoured Koala bear biscuits - Chocolate and Strawberry at a convenient store.
Step 2.1 - We started shaking it while we were having a party, our arms started to sore after 8 minutes of vigorous shaking. We threw the boxes around and had everyone in the room shaking. We stopped for the night since 30 minutes is a crazy shaking duration.
Step 2.2 - The next morning we picked up the beat up boxes and started shaking again. After several minutes, I felt a more solid roll inside the box!!!! Judging from the sound from the shake, we decided to open the box of Koala biscuits!
Wa-lah!!!!!!! Here it goes! A perfectly rounded strawberry chocolate ball! Freaking amazing! Rumor also mentioned the texture and taste would change after the vigorous shake. Our verdict is they did taste differently, in a bad way unfortunately. It actually was not too bad, it just did not taste as good as the original thing. The texture was like the coco puff cereal with a cheap chocolate taste like those Chinese New Year Chocolate Coin (but in strawberry flavoured).
As said, we also tried it on the chocolate Koala bear biscuits. The taste and texture was pretty much the same.
To be honest, the shaking process was not completely enjoyable but was a pretty good laugh when everyone was shaking it like an idiot. It was mad joy seeing the end result, but we felt like wasting food because no one wants to finish the chocolate balls lol!
