Mak Siu Kee - Great Canto Food that CANNOT be missed.

Price: $
Cravingness: ★★★★★

Mak Siu Kee Traditional Wonton Noodle (麥兆記) is a tiny little store specialised in wonton and beef brisket noodles on electric road. My family and I have always been a fan here. Their beef brisket noodles by far is my favourite in terms of flavour.

Beef Brisket Noodles (Lo Mein)

I fell in love with Mak Siu Kee's beef brisket noodles the first time I slurp my noodles. Sure the noodle texture was great, but it was the taste from the beef brisket broth that made it remarkable! The taste was complex with strong Chinese Pepper and 8 star taste, the broth is probably stewed for hours to reach this taste. It is probably the best broth I have tasted so far. Sometimes the beef briskets get a bit too lean and hence rough in texture, be sure to ask for semi-fat beef brisket if you are trying to yours!

Zhongzi

Zhongzi is one of my favourite festive food, but I can have it anytime anyday during the year. Despite the nice beef brisket noodles, Mak Siu Kee's also offers amazing zhongzi. Not only was the glutinous rice aromatic, moist and sticky, all the essence of the fatty meat and the green beans taste were fully absorded into every single glutinous rice grand. This heavenly tasted dish tasted 10/10!

This place is food paradise for Cantonese. Most of the dishes I tried in Mak Siu Kee is good, including the porridge and wonton noodles. This is definitely a MUST EAT place in Hong Kong.

  1. This entry makes me miss home so much haha, there is no such food in Australia (or really hard to find high quality Chinese food), I must have loads when I come back to HK :D btw 八角 is called star anise :P It also makes me think of the 牛腩伊 of 玉葉甜品 (well, also their famous 海帶綠豆沙), may be not with the best quality, but just in my favour~

P.S. I did think of buying AZ's macarons for my friends, but sadly I will not be coming back from Sydney so can't do it haha
P.P.S. Your entries are mouth watering :)
