I saw an Instagram feed earlier this week on a drooling looking curry dish, with title "Slow Cook Short rib Beef Curry". Hmmm sounds yum, asked where it is and turned out to be Campers, a homestyle Japanese restaurant at Quarry Bay.
Campers is a cosy Japanese restaurant owned by two Japanese who moved to Hong Kong after the Tohoku earthquake, decided to bring the best Japanese home cook meal to the table. Furnished in an outdoor camping theme with camping gears hanging on the walls, the restaurant has a warm and welcoming interior. Stressed about balance diet, Campers includes a lot of vegetables into the menu which many items already include you daily recommended intake of vegetables. Speaking of the menu, it is pretty cool as it is hand written!
The restaurant charged you for tea and water for a small cost, as they use purified water not just boiling tap water.
The dishes at Campers are not particularly impressive but are good hearty homey dishes. The healthy eatery would be the great choice for diners who dislike vegetables. Yet for me, I think I would not come back again.

Made up of 12 kinds of veggies, the dish is colourful and nutritious! All the veggies are fresh and crisp, I love how the Japanese pairs the veggies with sesame sauce.
Slow Cook Short Rib Black Sesame Curry Rice - HKD63
The curry was served with Japanese sweet corn rice and eight types of veggies. The curry was flavourful and rich with sesame fragrant. The slow cook short rib was flavourful in taste and utterly tender in texture.
Slow Cook 7 hours Pork Soft Bone Sesame Udon - HKD68
The udon dish was not as good as I thought. The broth was rich and rather sweet in flavour, is lacked the sesame taste that I was expecting. The Udon was cooked well, but the quality was quite bad. The soft pork bone was very nice though, I just wish the other stuff in the bowl are nicer.The dishes at Campers are not particularly impressive but are good hearty homey dishes.
