Trattoria Doppio Zero - Great Pasta Always

If you ask me where can you find good pasta, Trattoria Doppio Zero is definitely on the list. Trattoria in Italian means an dining environment less formal than restaurant, more causal service, no printed menus, wine is usually sold by decanter rather bottle etc. I would not consider Trattoria Doppio Zero trattoria but an Italian restaurant with a modern setup with romantic and sociable ambience.

Trattoria Doppio Zero makes their own pasta with doppio zero flour, the finest Italian flour. What I appreciate most is that they always make their pasta al dente. I brought Henry over tonight so he could try the lovely pasta out (secretly because I want pasta myself! :) )

Another nice thing about Trattoria Doppio Zero is that if you told them everything is shared on the table, they will split the portion for you. This applies to a table with 2 people, but I am not sure about more. Check with them when you order.

Truffle Fried Oyster - HKD90

The truffle fried oyster is pretty much Trattoria Doppio Zero's signature item as everyone orders it here (at least I order it every time.) The taste was wonderful, a mixture of truffle aioli, cream spinach and the fresh juice from the oyster.The oyster was very fresh, fat and creamy. I love this dish!


Bucatini with spicy baby octopus, cherry tomato and Chinese sausages - HKD145

Nicely executed, the bucatini was cooked al dente with just enough sauce to coat the pasta. The sauce was quite spicy and savoury especially with the Chinese sausages. The baby octopus was nice with good chew but not too jelly.


Spaghetti Neri with baby cuttlefish, Thai chilli, scallions and tomato - HKD145

The spaghetti was again cooked al dente. The pairing of scallions surprisingly enhance the taste a lot by brining extra freshness to the dish. The baby cuttlefish was fresh and sweet. The Neri sauce was thick and flavourful but was a bit too salty and saucy to me, we hope there was bread to swipe clear the plate and brought down the saltiness.


The service was messy the night we went even the house was not full. First, they missed one of our appetiser. Second, they repeatedly came over to our table to discuss about the missed appetiser even after we said we want to cancel it. Third, they forgot our bill. My past experience to Trattoria was not like this and I hope their staff could be more attentive if not customers will be drawn away.
