[Nha Trang] Duck Leg Egg Noodle Soup

After the Bun Cha Ca and two Banh Mi at the Dam market, Henry was still not satisfied! So we started looking around and found a drooling aroma floating in the air. Detective Henry soon found a huge pot of seemingly flavourful broth at a restaurant behind the street stalls. It turns out they sell Duck Leg Egg Noodle Soup! Heehee, we totally find a hidden gem. Read on!

Sorry I did not recall the name of the restaurant, but I think I saw Chinese characters on their restaurant banner when we walked in. The restaurant interior is green in colour and situated behind the Bun Cha Ca and Banh Mi truck. Look for the aroma and see if the interior looks like the one in my photos to locate the shop!

To be honest, we didn't know what that pot of broth is at first. We started looking around in the restaurant, but as expected there was no English menu. A man came by, restaurant owner possibly, and we asked him what the pot is by pointing at it and put on our questioned face. He first showed us some egg noodles and pretended to throw them into the broth, then he used a huge ladle to spoon up some ingredients, and said duck. Giving the drooling aroma, I just didn't care and dragged Henry to sit down.

This should be where the broth was simmered! Cool!

I was very surprised they served us the egg noodles with a whole duck leg! How generous! I guess they price this differently. The bowl was insanely fragrant with rich colour. Henry only allowed me to snap one photo since he could not withhold himself from the drooling aroma. I hope that explains how fragrant the bowl is!

The broth was utterly flavourful and had so much depth! It tasted quite similar to Malaysia's Bak Kut Teh, but instead of pork, the broth was filled with the duck essence!

The duck was as expected very tender, I was a bit surprised in a good way as the duck was not overly soft even after being simmered for hours! The essence of the broth totally permeated the meat and skin of the duck, each bite was heavenly.

Lettuce, coriander and lime can be added as your preference.

This duck leg egg noodle soup is truly a hidden gme and definitely one of the best dishes I had in Nha Trang! Try looking for one if you are going to Nha Trang!
