Kowloon City is crowned for offering the best Thai food in Hong Kong. There are numerous Thai restaurants there and my favourite is the one called Cheong Fak. My last visit to Kowloon City was already a year ago, so I was very excited in trying Thai food in Kowloon City again. This time we went to a Thai restaurant called Mini Bangkok.
Mini Bangkok is among one of the famous Thai restaurant in Kowloon City. It gets so popular that they opened a neighborhood restaurant solely for barbecue & grill, they even have their own dessert shop around the area as well!
Overall I aml not impressed by Mini Bangkok, there is something I dislike on almost every single dish. I do not think I will come back again, given how significantly better its neighbor competitor Cheong Fak is.

Iced Cendol in Thai Style - HKD25
A must drink whenever I went for Thai food. The coconut based drink was creamy with chewy green jelly noodles, clear red jelly and yellow sweets.
Snack Platter - HKD138
The snack platter is generous in portion and is perfect to share. The best was the shrimp cake which was flavourful, bouncy with crispy surface. The fish cake was nice too, it was savoury with lemongrass aroma. The deep fried chicken was succulent with a lovely palm leaves aroma. To my surprise, there was a chestnut in the wrap! The spring roll was no good, it was bland and very stuff in texture
Barbecue Whole Squid - HKD78
The grilled squid was tender and smokey with charred rim. Pretty standard squid. If you love squid, order one.
Shrimp in Thai Style - HKD88
The shrimp sashimi was mildly sweet, quite bouncy but not smooth enough. Remember to consume this with the spicy sauce given!
Papaya Salad - HKD48
Crisp papaya salad with crunchy nuts all soaked up the spicy fish sauce. Yum!
Barbecue Pork Cheek - HKD69
The pork cheek was utterly bouncy, juicy and meaty with smokey charred edge! The lemony gravy sauce was a great complementary sauce.
Steamed Grey Mullet with chilli & Lemon Sauce on Stove - HKD138
The chilli and lemon broth was very addicting, it got more sour the longer it boils. The fish was a bit mushy though.
Stir Fried Cabbage with Shrimp paste - HKD58
The cabbage had a lovely shrimp paste flavour but was a bit too wet and overly savoury.
Pad Thai - HKD58
I know I shouldn't compare the Pad Thai to the ones I had in Thailand, but this Pad Thai at Mini Bangkok was a huge disappointment. The Pad Thai did not have the right texture and was overly soft and also very bland in taste.
Green Chick Curry
I did not like the curry too much since it was crazily sweet in flavour. The curry was otherwise creamy and herby. The chicken was also very tough in texture. Luckily the Thai pepper was braised soft.
Sticky Rice with Mango Coconut Milk - HKD52
The black and white sticky rice was cooked perfectly with a soft, slightly sticky and chewy texture. I love the white one more which I usually have in Thailand. Great dessert!
Thai Style Jelly with Coconut & Taro Mixed Thai Style Pandan Leaves Coconut Pudding - HKD35
This was again another good dessert. The Thai jelly was chewy and sweet with good coconuts flavour. The coconut pudding was smooth and sweet with chewy taro jelly at the bottom.Overall I aml not impressed by Mini Bangkok, there is something I dislike on almost every single dish. I do not think I will come back again, given how significantly better its neighbor competitor Cheong Fak is.
