Hui Lau Shan has chosen a very convenient spot in the China Hong Kong CIty in TST, just right in front of the arrival gate on 2/F. Customer who wants to quench their thirst upon their arrival, could immediately get a cool drink from Hui Lau Shan straight away.
The seating are in an open area which is shared among all the restaurants on the same floor. The environment is disgustingly dirty! The tables were sticky and had patches of coloured stains spread across them, some of the chairs was covered in spilt liquids, there were also pieces of food everywhere on the floor. There were cleaning ladies cleaning the tables up from time to time, but seemed like they were just responsible for picking up the tray only. This should be the worst environment I have ever dined in.
Fortunately Hui Lau Shan soon made my drink, so my attention could be drawn back from the horror. I ordered Mango Strawberry Mix with Little Rice Dumplings (I supposed, aka 金粉丸子潮撈). It was a ice mixture of mango and strawberry, topped with some fresh strawberries and mango cubes and little rice dumplings.
Both the mango and strawberry ice tasted nice and sweet. The texture was like smoothie. Both the fruits bits were fresh, the mango was sweet and tasty, yet the strawberries were a bit sour. The little rice dumplings were rather roughly made. The texture was hard and thus super chewy. It seemed it was not fully cooked, as you could literally tasted the flour taste from the dumplings. The portion on the other hand was a bit below average, not quite satisfying after polishing the whole bowl off. The drink overall was a nice summer dessert to cool down the heat. Yet to be honest, I might actually prefer some other nicer drinks in other dessert store at this price.
