Milk Top | Hokkaido Ice Cream


While walking around Sogo, I decided to try Milk Top. Milk Top is an ice cream store from Hokkaido, famous for their freshness and healthy hand made ice cream. Milk Top provides a diverse range of ice cream flavors and especially famous for their Hokkaido Fresh Milk and Ginger flavor. With their excellent services, you could try any kind of ice cream flavors before you made the choice(given you won't feel embarrassed for that. Given its fame on Hokkaido Fresh Milk, and the idea of original is always the best, I decided to give it a try. I tasted Red Bean, Cookies and Sakura but finally decided to have a whole scoop of Sakura as its seasonal (from 1 Apr - 31 Sep).

Having the first spoon directly from the scoop, you could immediately feel the smoothnesss of the ice cream. The texture is special and is in between the hardness of sorbet and the stickyness of  those normal soft ice cream you could get anywhere.

Fresh Milk has a very strong scent of Hokkaido Milk which lingered in your mouth for a while before it melted away. Eating Fresh milk scoop gives you a feeling that you are drinking milk. Yet it does not give the normal sweetness Hokkaido milk provides. Its flavour is rather thin, like drinking skimmed milk but with a stong milk scent. Pretty interesting.

Sakura is even more intersting.I could not really tell what it tastes like after finishing the whole scoop. If you ask for my comment I would say it gives a thin floral taste. I regretted choosing Sakura over Red Bean. I would not recommend Sakura even it is a seasonal flavor.

Another comment I want to make is not to get cone but cup with your ice cream, The cone is soft and simply not crispy enough, so its not worht having an extra amount of carbs down your stomach.
