Having done my research I heard there was a very nice egg pancake stall somewhere nearby Si Sun Fast Food Restaurant. Not to waste a moment, I immediately set my path towards the stall after polishing off my burger at Si Sun. Stupid as I was I had forgotten where the stall was and stood at a junction of a road pretty miserably. Just at this moment, my old University friend who lived nearby suddenly appeared and yay, there she brought me to the stall so I could have my lovely dessert after my contented lunch.
I ordered the renowned chocolate pancake at the counter and were handed a tag. I waited patiently while chatting with my friend. The waiting time for my chocolate pancake was twice as much as the original flavour, as a previous customer and the one after me who also had ordered a pack of original pancakes had already got their pancakes and left the stall happily. After a while, it's finally my turn to pick my chocolate pancake!
What makes Mammy's chocolate pancake so unique?
The first thought upon receiving my pancake was 'Wow, such a big portion!' The chocolate pancake was much bigger than the one I used to have in Tsim Sha Tsui. Instead of having a typical chocolate coloured and flavoured pancake, Mammy offers plain egg pancake with lots of chocolate bits spreading randomly across the whole pancake. What's more fascinating was that the chocolate bites were all melted within the egg pancakes, so you could literally taste the smooth chocolate paste sweetening your palate.
The texture of the egg pancake was crispy and light with a strong taste of egg. It also contained the aroma of egg and chocolate on it. The melted chocolate was pretty smooth and had a similar taste as the chocolate filling of the Lotte's Koala chocolate biscuit. Such a scrumptious chocolate pancake, totally worth the wait!
