King Pizza Tuesday | Homemade Pizza Is The Best

When we were on our way to Ikea to have some lovely Swedish Meatballs, walking along the shaded pavement, a big billboard with a big red word "Pizza" caught our sight and hold our attention. A pizza place in this kind of village-like place should be pretty homey. Out of curiosity, we went over and checked what people were having, and the pizzas looked pretty appealing, and we decided to pay a visit next time.

So on an extraordinary sunny day, we went back to this little pizza shop, feeling all excited to try their pizzas! Sweating our ways along the pavement, we formally arrived the restaurant and asked for a seating. You could literally oversee the whole tiny restaurant at a glance and the indoor air conditioned room is all packed up. So we sat ourselves at a table under the big sun umbrella in the outdoor area. Well, enjoying the sun once in a while wasn't that bad I guess.

A cheerful waitress came over and handed us the menu. Tiny as the restaurant is, they do have an English menu, well done! We thought the restaurant's name was simply Pizza at first, but we later learned the real name from the Menu where it says "King Pizza Tuesday". King Pizza Tuesday provides a wide range of set combos to choose from. Although the combos are presetted, they are actually very flexible. Since most of the pastas and snacks are of the same price, you could always change or add extra money to get anything you want from the menu. The pizza either comes in 8" or 13" with a amusing price of $52 and 123 approximately. One interesting gimmick is they used different countries' flag to present their pizza as well as the ingredients they contained.

Another waiter came over after a while and took our order. His facial feature is 90% similar to the waitress who served us earlier on, so then this truly must be a family business. We ordered a 8" set and add $4 to change the rice into spicy chicken wings.

1) Chicken Wings (Spicy)
King Pizza Tuesday provides five different kinds of flavour for chick wing. Being a fan of spicy, spicy chicken wing has to be our first choice. Coming as a starter of the day, to be honest the chicken wing was not the most appealing dish on earth as you can see from the photo. The spicy sauce with suspicious weird orangey-red colour was added in randomly around the chicken wings horribly without art.

Yet taking in the chicken wing it actually tasted fantastic. The chicken was pre-seasoned so it had already got some flavour itself, the wings were tender and soft. On the other hand, the weird spicy sauce was no western at all, it is founded to be Guang Dong Spicy Sauce! Quite surprising ir fitted perfectly with the wings and were pretty pleasant to the palate, First thumb up for the wings.

2) Mexico Pizza
As always, I mostly found homemade pizza more appealing than those chained restaurant's one. The reason might be the amount of cheese and ingredients they added in.

Mexico Pizza is made up of Jalapeno, beef, onion, tomato and a pleasant amount of mozzarella cheese melting on top of everything. The amount of each and every single ingredients were topped more than my expectation, so when you folded your pizza slice into your mouth, you could literally feel a mouth full of yumminess. Another nice thing about this pizza is that the crust and the bottom were both made very crispy and were nicely done to give the right golden brown colour.

The hideous lovely amount of melting mozzarella cheese and together with the Jalapeno adding up the spiciness, Mexico Pizza is a masterpiece and definitely better than most of the other chain stores' pizza available in Hong Kong(excluding the cheese crust Pizza Hut have which is undyingly good).

3) Mexican Spaghetti with Cervelat(司華力腸)
In several occasions you could literally tell how the dish would taste like by simply judging their appearance. This Mexican Spaghetti with Cervelar is definitely one of them. The green peas and sweet corns together with a not so appealing coloured tomato sauce, the dish tasted exactly what it looked like - not really good. The spaghetti itself was acceptable, but the sauce was nothing special to remember of, and the Cervelats were big yet badly tasted.

Overall, I generally love this place. The environment is very nice to be seated at the outside area which is surrounded by trees and the lovely Sun. The dishes especially the homemade pizza was delicious and really finger licking good. The only two things that I dislike about the restaurant is that the drinks are self served from a fridge of drink choices and the dinning utensils are plastics even if you dined in. If you are serving food in this environment, I would be really appreciated if you could be more environmentally friendly. All in all if you passed by Shatin sometime and are craving for nice pizza, go for King Pizza Kitchen instead of the conventional chain stores. You won't regret it.
