Outback | Some Impressive Services That Deserves A WOW

Blooming Onion
Thinking of Onion Rings, there is no other place better than Outback Steakhouse, at least in the appearance perspective. Craving for onion rings, we decided to pay a visit to Outback Steakhouse but which branch? I have visited the branches in Causeway bay and Wanchai before, and i dislike them all. I have had some bad experiences in Causeway bay, the restaurant is small, tables are packed together with limited personal space, restricted dinning time and bad services. Outback in Wanchai is pretty much similar and I had no interest in getting there one more time. We went to Tsim Sha Tsui at last.

There are two Outback Steakhouses in Tsim Sha Tsui and we went to the one in Enterprise Square. Going up the escalator, you could possibly deduce that the restaurant should be pretty spacious, with the restaurant itself occupying the whole second floor. Stepping in the restaurant, you could sense a causal atmosphere suggestive of the rustic Australian restaurant. Along with the dim lighting and the comfy couch seatings, it is the perfect spot for couples or big chatty friends gathering to dine in.

Upon settling in our table, we were greeted by three different waiters within 5 minutes for drinks, so we ordered a bottomless coke and just a cup of warm water for myself. Although feeling kind of pushy at first, the first impression was totally overturned during my dinning when I found the service Outback provides was exceptional and impressive. But first let's talk about the food.

1) Honey Wheat Bushman Bread
As I have not been to Outback Steakhouse for long, I had totally forgotten bread would be served before starters. Doubling the surprises was the appearance of the dish, nice brown wheat bread with a knife extending from the middle on a T wooden pan served with a white dish of whipped butter at the side. The wheat bread had a nice pastries smell, it was very soft on the inside and was very palate pleasant with the butter. The butter is light weighted, a bit fluffy and very spreadable. Scrumptious as it was, I could not withhold myself from asking the waiter more information about the bread and the making of their butter. She told me the honey bushman is Outback's signature bread and the butter is whipped to give the fluffy texture. Taking the whole Brushman in had already given me much satisfaction.

2) Bloomin' Onion
The renowned Blooming Onion came as a starter minutes after we finished the bread. The amazing looking Blooming Onion is a true Outback original and is especially hand-carved by their dedicated bloomologist to give the look. The onion was carved into many little blocks and each and every single one of them were fried to give a crispy golden yellow coating and a soft hot onion filling within. Looking like fries, the blooming onion had a more interesting mouth feel, much crispier, lighter and with the onion filling that is so soft, it literally melted on your palate soon after the crispy layer was chomped off. The blooming onion could be served with their signature bloom sauce but I personally prefer my very own signature Hot Tabasco Ketchup.

3) Awesome Rib and Wing Combo
The Kookabura wings were actually the one we were interested in but we ordered this to try out their ribs as well. The Buffalo Wings were served with bleu cheese and celery sticks at the side. The wings were nicely seasoned, with a spicy coating. Seemingly the coating was fried along with sprinkles of cheese on them. The texture was soft and tender with a medium crispiness yet a bit oily layer on the outside. Deliciously finger licking good, a big thumb up for the Wings.

In comparison, the ribs were nothing really special. The ribs were tiny, the meat texture and the sauce were both so so, I personally think Spaghetti House does a better job in ribs. Thus the ribs are not recommended and you could save your stomach for more scrumptious food later on.

4) Chicken & Shrimp Pasta
The fettucini Alfredo came in several minutes after the Kookabura wings. I was a bit discontented about it as we had just begun our starter, plus the fact that the waiter did ask if he should bring up the starters firstly. Nonetheless the fettuccini boost our appetite further with the amazing colour brought up by its glossy creamy white sauce topped with sprinkles of chives and Parmesan cheese.

The creamy fettuccini Alfredo was tossed with sliced chicken, sauteed shrimp & parmesan cheese. The sauce by itself did not give much flavour at all except creaminess but the fettuccini’s texture is good which gives medium chewiness. The Sauteed shrimp did not have much flavour either. The grilled chicken slices on the other hand was VERY tasty. It was nicely seasoned with a strong flavour, which should be too strong to have it along but was great to go with the creamy lightly flavoured sauce. Thanks for the sliced chicken, the fettucini Alfredo all of a sudden tasted delicious.

What I found most amazing is the service Outback Steakhouse provides. Remember at the very beginning I whined about the waiters being pushy? They were not, they were all very passionate in serving customers that every single one was eager to serve you. During our dining, my cup of warm water was somehow always magically filled without noticing they refilling it. Once the waiter saw me choking on my hot water, they proactively brought a replacement at the spot. They handed us plastic hand gloves for the wings along with some sanitary towels and dry tissues or whenever we need them. I was very impressed and thrilled by how I was treated. They made an excellent job in letting us perceive we are their valuable customers, and yes we are.
